great looking system, smcmillan2! Three questions- What are you using to mount thoes to the wall? What sub is that? and Last, is Harbaugh going to leave the NFL for Ann Arbour? That would be a coup if he is woed to Michigan...
Thanks! Love it during college football season and March Madness!

* Pinpoint AM20s hold up the L/R. I stripped one of the threads on the left, but (somewhat surprisingly to me) some Krazy glue and temporary support while it dried took care of that. They are rated for 12lbs but I think the R5Bi at ~7 is about as heavy as I would go.

* Acoustech PL-200 in the pictures, nice sub for the money. And a DIY in the back corner based on the 24" cube with Infinity 1260w driver models found in this thread. The combination shakes the whole main floor during movies if I let it! ;)

* What gives you the impression I know about Michigan football? :D:D
Don't know if Harbaugh's interested, and I'm not sure he would be a good fit (although he is a "Michigan Man"), but given our last 7 seasons they better come up with a winner!

Congratulations, smcmillan, and thanks for posting pictures and giving us your thoughts! That's a nice room and I especially like the wine rack and "fridge full of beer?". That makes everything better :D. I also noticed you have your sub on furniture sliders (I do too) -- makes life so much easier.

Anyway, I'm happy to hear that you like your system (and I didn't steer you wrong … whew).
Didn't see going wrong with the EMPs after reading Andrew's review as well as yours. Even my wife, who thought the Nanosats were fine, thinks these speakers sound great and are a terrific bargain.

Funny you put it in quotes, because it's literally a "fridge full of beer" :D
This is our "games" room, it used to house a pool table and dart board, but now just the dart board and multiple TVs (for all the "games"!).

The sub on the pads isn't really necessary for moving it (it's light, I believe I weighed it at ~34lbs), but it was suggested to raise it slightly to combat some boominess I was experiencing. I need to work the AVR settings some more to get everything just right, then I'm sure I can remove those.

Thanks again! Really enjoying the sound.

Do you guys have a list of wall mounts that work with the R5Bi's? I see lots of wall mounts on Amazon but have no idea which ones will work and which ones wont. If you don't have a list could you please mention a few recommended wall mounts?

Thanks!

@ousooner2 had mentioned to me in another thread that he was using the Pinpoint AM20, so that's what I went with. Another mount that has been recommended is the VideoSecu Clamping bracket, but the WAF wasn't there for our room.

If you go with the AM20 just don't play with them too much, that's how I ended up stripping one of the threads (see above). But they are holding quite well now.

getting Harbaugh would be a coup for sure, but 8 million per year!? Well, the Big Ten needs good teams and we haven't had enough recently, so even though I am a Hawkeye, it is good for the BT for Michigan to be good again! You guys could have had Pellini...:)

nice subwoofer combo, especially the DIY!

Good to hear those Pinmounts are working...when the R5bi come back in stock, I will need to get a pair for surrounds. The SLS Q Line surrounds I am using can only handle content above 120hz, and i feel/hear them distorting a lot at -15dB or less, so...it is now the weak link in my system.

Yeah, the PL-200 was a good step up from the Mirage sub, but also ended up being the entrance to the rabbit hole for me. Got that in September, and immediately started looking around to see how I could get MORE!! :D For the price of the 1260 it was a no-brainer for me...

The Pinpoints are holding so far, but I don't think I would hang more than the weight of the R5Bi on them. If I had to do it again I would go with the VideoSecu clamping mounts I linked to above - If they were available in white I would have gone with those to begin with.

Smcmillian2 Awesome, glad you're enjoying them so far. I also am running that same configuration with the mains and the center (No surrounds yet) Love your set up, I really like the 3 extra TV's you got there, very nicely integrated and very clean looking. As a fellow Michigander I'll be over sometime in March to watch the games haha. Also love seeing you rocking to some Steve Miller Band. One of my all time favorite bands and my very first concert when I was 17 years old.

PS Go Green! =)

@smcmillan2 Looks great! Now you just need a second PL-200 flanking the TV

@smcmillan2, Sounds like a great setup. I am wondering what is your room size ? I now have a similar EMP setup and I am planning to add a PL-200 sub to it.

My living room opens to Kitchen and is just about 2900 cubic feets, however this is on a first floor of an apartment complex(do not want to be a pain for neighbors) so I am looking for a decent sub which would fill the missing bass(music, movies) from the R5bis.

Bfielder, PM me if you get in my neck of the woods, happy to have you stop by to see/hear the setup. I put together the 3 above the large screen a couple years ago, but the room "belongs" to my wife during the off seasons (Mine during college football and March Madness seasons).

The Steve Miller I was playing in that shot is his Born 2B Blue CD, it has great dynamics for setting up a sound system.

BTW, just listened to Diana Krall on the R5Bi - Can't use those words here. Exquisite!

Thanks Trans! Instead of flanking I am building a DIY in the opposite corner (behind) with an Infinity 1260 to dig deeper. Yep, the rabbit hole has another victim! This pic is of the carcass that I have in place for testing, will be sprucing it up to match the rest of the decor next month.

BTW, this thing kicks @$$ for the money. $60 for the driver plus the iNuke 1000DSP - Cheap thrills! :D

Yeah man I appreciate the offer. Might have to take you up on that sometime.

And yeah I can imagine, living in a house divided like that would be pretty fun haha.

@localghost, I think the PL-200 is a very good sub for the money. The room in the pics is 13.5Wx17.5D with 8' ceilings, open on 2 sides (to dining room and entrance hallway). My OCD is the reason I went on the hunt for more bass, that and I love to build things. I built the stand the TV sits on - not my best effort - as well as the cabinet "bridge" holding the 3 24" TVs.

I purchased the PL-200 based off of the "Budget subs @ $300 or less" thread here on AVS, and I don't regret it. It replaced an old Mirage 8" sub, that being my only reference to a "subwoofer". You might want to look into the SVS subs, particularly the PB-1000 or SB-1000, as they model much better than the PL-200 in the lower frequencies. Note that placement is key with subs, where you want to place it may or may not be where it performs the best. If you have the ability/inclination you might want to check out DIY, a lot of bang-for-your-buck there.

Regarding the neighbors, anything you put in your setup can be toned up/down so I wouldn't be too concerned with that.

Mounting options

I am posting this because I have seen a lot of questions over the last few pages inquiring about mounts for the bookshelf speakers. I looked into the pinpoints that a lot of the other people mentioned, but decided to go with something a little more heavy duty.

I finally got the "mount it! Heavy duty universal satellite speaker mounts" (four mounts for $30) from Amazon. I would post the link but I'm not yet at five posts.

They are rated for 33 lbs. and seem solid as a rock. I did have to buy some M6 bolts from the local hardware store as they don't come with any but the mounting holes on the speakers and brackets match up perfectly

Here's pictures of my friend's Paradigm Studio 60 next to E55ti. He thinks both sounded equally good.
Have you seen anyone done this? He uses the E55ti as main and put the Studio 60 as surround, permanently  Not kidding. Does this make sense?
E55ti = $477/pair (main)
Studio 60 = $2340/pair (surround)

Well, I received my center speaker box today from Fedex and unfortunately it is damaged as well. :(
Here are some pic's to show.

Thinking that maybe this isn't working out and it's not meant to be.
Will be speaking to Emp Tek on Monday to find out my options at this point.

Is the speaker inside OK? They should be double-boxed and protected pretty well. I would take the speaker out and try it, if it works fine and there are no cosmetic issues, just enjoy it and don't worry about a beat up box.

I have not removed the speaker from the box yet. Just got home from work.
I can actually touch the padding on the inside, but can't tell if it's the speaker or not.

I do want to enjoy these but I guess I'm a bit concerned on the physical impact that these have gone through and what it might have done to the speaker(s).
Never really thought about it until seeing the last two boxes.

Napski, wait and talk to EMP, but the way they pack their boxes, I would be real suprised if the speaker is damaged in any way.
