I don't know if this belongs here or if i can start a official thread but i will give it a shot. Just picked this projector up last night at Bestbuy. I'll post the two pics i took last night and do a review once i get my new EluneVision Reference Studio 4K Tab‑Tensioned Motorized Motorized Projection Screen (110V) ‑ Matte black screen. By just the little bit of Netflix i watched projected on the wall looked sweet. Detailed and sharp. Colors are a bit off because the wall is tan or top colored.

Let me know if you have any questions about it and i will help if i can.

Good idea to start an official owners thread for the 2150. Might as well include a link to the 2150 announcement thread, which includes a lot of preliminary discussion and early reports:

Thanks for putting that link there. Yea i didn't see one so i said let's do it. Would love to see what other owners think.

Still need to buy a mount. So if there are other owners of this out there that may have a recommendation that would be sweet.

At halftime time of the skins game I'm going to hook up this projector in the living room and see how it does.

Edit. Here it is. On the same color wall as the basement.

I bought the Epson Universal Mount. It worked perfectly. I ended up ordering a white 12" extension pole as well since my screen is mounted below a soffit. Very sturdy mount - easy to get exactly level.

Bought from Amazon ....
Epson Universal Projector Ceiling Mount Kit
QualGear QG-PRO-PM-1FT-W Pro-AV 1.5" Npt Threaded Pipe, 1' Length Projector Accessory

Loving my 2150 - are there recommended settings for getting the most accurate color, etc.?

If we have to abandon the old thread, may I suggest to change the title of this discussion as follows, to include all models and countries? ;)

I may put this in my living room. Then buy the Sony 45es for the basement. I loved the way it looked yesterday and that was on the wall.

Will need ALR screen. I have a OLEDB7 right now and the soft 1080i and 720p is driving me crazy.. 4k is of course amazing but sports takes a hit. Decisions, Decisions...

Excerpt about the contrast of the TW5350/2045:
Le contraste natif de nouvel EPSON est vraiment trop bas avec une mesure de 518:1, la mesure augmente avec le premier niveau de l’iris dynamique pour passer à un petit 1095:1 et enfin culmine à 7267:1 avec le mode rapide (rappelons toutefois que ces deux dernières sélections s’accompagnent d’une baisse visible de la luminosité à l’image quand le dispositif s’active).
The native contrast of the new EPSON is really too low with a measure of 518:1, the measure will rise with the first level of dynamic iris to a small 1095:1 and 7267:1 with fast mode (remember however that these last two) selections are accompanied by a decrease in visible light to the image when the device is activated).

The native contrast of the new TW5650/HC2150 is >3x than the TW5350/2045!!!

Projectorcentral.com's HC 2150 review is now up but I find it disappointing as it's another shootout format. The bulk of the review is comparing the 2150 with Optoma HD39Darbee. As with their recent shootout between the BenQ HT1070A vs. Epson HC 1060 the final thoughts are that the Epson 3LCD has the advantage in ambient light and the BenQ DLP has the advantage in the dark. We already know this is going to be the case in every

I dont know, i just dont trust projector central for their reviews anymore. IIRC they did comparison between w1070, tw5300(hc2040) and hd26(141x) and they stated that optoma has the deepest black level and highest contrast which is definitely not the case. W1070 has double the on/off and ansi contrast compared those two. Somehow i doubt hd39 has higher contrast even without iris active on the HC2150. Im gonna need some hard numbers first. HD39 darbee seems to be RGBCYW dlp pj similar to hd29darbee which falls so short compared to ht2050/ht3050. According to projectionhomecinema fr review hc2150 rivals ht2050/ht3050. Im looking forward to seeing proper hd39darbee review, but i remain skeptical until i do. Hoping to be suprised though.

edit: i actually remembered the comparison wrong. It was sub 1000 dollar shootout, benq ht3050/ht2050 vs optoma hd28dse vs epson hc2040 vs Viewsonic PJD7835HD. They actually stated that hd28dse has highest contrast out of those and it was noticeable while viewing. Its not, ht2050/ht3050 has higher measured contrast.

Here is the comparison im talking about. http://www.projectorcentral.com/home-theater-projectors-under-$1000.htm?page=Optoma-HD28DSE

The review does not answer the question many of us had. How does the 2150 compare with the 3100/3700? I waited for so long. Anyway, I am now the owner of a 3700 and I am not looking back. Cheers!!!

Aren't the contrast tests and reviews in my post above enough? ;):)

The main question now is how the hc2100/tw5600, and the tw5400 shorter throw model, compare to the hc2150/tw5650, waiting for good reviews with tests, first and foremost native contrast tests, with true numbers, otherwise they are useless.

Sorta

Im just curious in real world side by side. The 3700 seems to be a better projector for the living room since it's so bright.

Is your 3700 in a darkened home theater? Or is there ambient light? Do you have a screen?

I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying that for my living room.

My 3700 is in a home theatre. We watch movies in the dark, and sports with lots of lights on. The room is also occasionally used for small group events by rearranging the seats, and with video and discussion with a lot of ambient light. The screen is a remote pull-down screen, at 120 inch diagonal, with the 3700 mounted to the ceiling, about 16 feet from the screen.

Cool. Thanks.

I was either going with that 3700 or the 2150 in the living room. With a ALR screen. Then get the Sony 45es for the home theater.
