I'm not quite sure what happened though. The gamma settings I ended up with are very similar to what they were before I went back to factory defaults. Just a click or two away on all settings.

I also ended up with a contrast level of -1 and a brightness level of +1 I think. I believe they were both zeroed out on my last calibration. I could never get the contrast high enough to display the 102% above-white bar on the white pluge pattern - don't know if that matters or not.

I also need to figure out the CMS. I was having to crank saturation way up on all primary and secondary colors (most of them all the way up) to get good measurements, which didn't make sense. I ended up zeroing all of them out last night before taking that shot. I must be doing something wrong. I was using 100%A 75%S patterns, and Chromapure was set for 75% intensity color gamut.

Well never mind on the CMS settings. Turns out I had Chromapure set to measure 100% saturation, but I was using 75% saturation patterns. That will do it!

Thanks everyone for your help.

What problems specifically?
I am getting a message when I try to open the calibration icon [ no input signal or unsupported format] check the input signal.
I have called JVC and the support was worthless so far. A projector specialist was to call me since Wednesday but they have not.

You need to have a valid video signal present at the input, even though autocal uses patterns it generates internally (not via the video input). It’s best to use a 1080p signal, as 4K signals can sometimes cause unexpected results.

I have a ? What do you mean by valid signal input. I have the Spyder 5 elite connected to the computer , the LAN connected to the home network and the projector on. JVC never contacted as promised me very poor customer service.
Thanks

In addition to the Spyder 5 and LAN connection, during Autocal you also have to connect a video signal to the HDMI input just like when you’re playing movies, even though it may not seem to be used for calibration.

Yes, each software version is for a different meter or projector, but the procedure is essentially the same.

Has anyone had the whole image turn pink? Mine just started doing it. It’ll go all pink for a while (Couple minutes tops) and then go back to normal. I have 2600 hrs on lamp. I had an Epson 8040ub before this and when it was going to die it would gradually start fading. My lamp doesn’t seem to have faded, whole image just turns pink sporadically and I did isolate to projector by disconnecting source and seeing the jvc menus were pink. Can’t tell if it’s the lamp or something else...

Had the same pink issue myself. JVC Canada replaced my projector a few months ago.

Call their Canadian Support line and they can point you in the right direction.

Thanks. I opened a ticket. My 2yr warranty will be up in a week and a half so timing couldn’t be better at one level...

Is this common on these projectors? Whole reason I stepped up to JVC was to avoid the Epson QC issues I had on my last projector...

I've only recall hearing the issue from you two guys. I've got almost 2200 hours on my RS440, purchased in fall of 2017. No issues.

My DLA-X590R is about 1 year old and I’m just starting to notice a problem with the auto iris. Up till about 1 month ago, the action of the iris was barely noticeable to me and my family. But I’ve started to notice the iris pulsing in darker scenes.

Tonight we were watching Enola Homes on Netflix and it was so noticeable that even my wife asked me if there was a problem with the lamp. I switched modes from Auto 2 to Auto 1 and that made no difference. Only after setting to manual on a fixed iris setting did the pulsating brightness stop.

Is this a common issue with this projector? If so, will JVC take care of it under warranty? I still have about 2 years left on my warranty.

So I unplugged the projector for a few minutes and plugged back in. Now this morning I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem, even with the same scenes that were triggering the iris problems last night. Spent about 1 hour so far and everything seems OK now on Auto 2 setting.

I’m hoping this was just a fluke and the projector just got into a funky state (iris firmware perhaps?)

Fingers crossed.

Auto iris mechanical problems are noted from members time to time. Not too often though. However, sometimes there are random brightness fluctuations in certain scenes (which should be repeatable) as it's just the way the auto iris can work on certain material. If there is a mechanical problem, you'll have to send the unit in and it is covered by warranty - I think it's 'fixed' through a light engine replacement (but don't quote me).
