Hello everybody,

Since I knew that this would be of interest to many of the forum members, I figured I would post this information as soon as it became available from my crystal ball. Here is a quote directly from Nvidia:

Question, it seems that the VPP is included, is there anyway to configure it, and can you use the VPP in MCE?
And how come they place these restrictions on it? From the datasheet:

Quote:
* The NVIDIA DVD Decoder works with Microsoft Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player, Interactual and NVIDIA ForceWare Multimedia applications only for DVD playback. Use of the decoder with other applications will result in no audio during DVD playback.

** Downmixes Dolby Digital 5.1 audio into stereo playback.

And how come they place these restrictions on it? From the datasheet:
Probably a licensing agreement with vendors like TT... to get the "premium version" you have to buy the $70 software package.

Just my guess...

Have you bought it? If so, does it work in apps other than the listed ones?
The faq on the nvidia website says it works with ext. applications.
I have purchased, it seems to hook into zoom player just fine.

although I haven't been able to do a full test yet.
This is from the NVIDIA DVD Decoder FAQ :

Quote:
What applications does this product work with?

The NVIDIA DVD Decoder contains a video decoder and an audio decoder that are compatible with many third party applications. The video decoder is compatible with any third party application that uses Microsoft DirectShow interfaces for accessing decoders. The audio decoder is only compatible with Windows Media Player 9 or higher and Windows Media Center for DVD playback. It will not work with any other application at this time due to requirements from third-party technologies which NVIDIA is actively working to fix. However, you can still configure the NVIDIA DVD Decoder to use S/PDIF mode with any third-party application and output audio to an external decoder. Please follow the steps in the “How do I turn on S/PDIF mode?†FAQ.
The restriction on the filters is only on the audio side in that it restricts output to S/PDIF or analog stereo. There are license restrictions in order to do Dolby Digital and DTS decoding in software filters.

I think the reason is Dolby licensing fees. I remember in one thread someone from nVidia basically said that apps had to be Dolby approved to use the 'decoding' part of the audio codec.
Jeez. I just bought (upgrade price) TT 2.0 yesterday just to get my hands on the NVDVD 4.0 codecs. I am a ZP user but don't mind having current TT version but still, a direct codec purchase would have been my prefered route. Oh well.

No law against spending more money if I want even later codec version!

DFA
NVVPP is included

All apps are supported for video and audio via SPDIF including ZP, etc.

Only MCE, WMP and FWMM app support audio via 2channel analog due to Dolby licensing restrictions
I am all over this. been waiting for it...
Quote:
If you go into the Program Files -> NVIDIA folder -> you can find an icon for the NVIDIA UI

To comply with Dolby, we have to have it there
Just waiting for my CC to validate...

Look like a newer version than those that come with TT, but not for too long I am sure.
Check out the hidden app under C:\\program files\\NVIDIA Corporation\\Forceware\

Stant Media\

StantMedia.exe!
What are the improvements since the version included in TT2?
I believe it's the same one...
Yes...please answer the question about the improvements since TT2! Does this address the stuttering with 1080i as seen here:

http://www.theatertek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6159
These are codecs only, not a player. And given how new the TT2 ones are, I'm not sure there is a version difference here.

So how can you configure NVVPP, and is it used by default with MCE2005?

using this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

I can verify that I am using the right codec.
