I'm having a weird audio issue. Will copy and paste below.

Got a nice LG OLED tv
And a new Onkyo tx NR5100 receiver
Running TV eArc to the receiver, got all the speakers hooked up, everything working fine… but
When I adjust the volume it basically kicks on the TV speakers and shuts off the speakers being powered by the receiver

Which made me think it was an hdmi cec issue

But then when I connect my phone via Bluetooth to the receiver and adjust the volume on my phone or the receiver it kicks the phone off the Bluetooth connection and then starts playing the audio out of my phone speakers
So essentially, no matter what I’m running through the receiver, when I go to change the volume it kicks the audio back to the device sending the signal
If I dont adjust the volume everything works fine

What gives?

You found the first bug?

I cant think of any setting to fix that.

Update and then maybe a factory reset? Then contact Onkyo if that doesnt do it?

It could still be a HDMI CEC issue. Does your TV have an Auto setting for the TV speakers? Try running your TV speakers Off instead

It’s kicking the speakers off every time I change the volume on any source

TV is a brand new LG OLED
But when I even connect my phone via Bluetooth to the receiver it’ll play until I try and adjust the volume on the phone and then it kicks it off the Bluetooth connection and forces the phone to play it from the phone speakers.
Then I have to reconnect to the receiver again
I reset factory settings and now can’t update the firmware
Gonna try again later today when I have time
Welcome to the Onkyo Thread for TX NR Series line up for 2021.

This is my first time starting an Official thread so if I need to update anything please let me know.

I just received my receiver last week TX NR 7100 and have started to test out things like;

4k120 - confirmed working

Dirac live took me forever to setup as it kept giving me errors. It’s rather finicky. I had to turn up the SUB for it to detect and then turn it down for the levels part

No Dirac Live BassControl and no Auro3D is a deal breaker for me... Too bad. I'll wait for a Yamaha RX-A6A review...
Where the hell did you find one for sale ?
I would only buy if had DLBC
Crutchfield has the 7100 up for preorder.

Can you test HDMI 4-6 for 4K 120? It’s supposed to support it but no one I’ve seen has tested those ports.
If you have a zone 2, can you get 4K 120 on both HDMI outs?

Will only be able to do 4K/120Hz at lower chroma settings on those ports on the 7100 as they are only 24Gbps, and all ports on 5100 are 24Gbps. Ports 1-3 on 7100 are 40Gbps.

coukd you please comment on how onkyo’s combo zone 2 and sub work? How is it 40Gb in sub node and 24Gb as zone 2

I don't own one yet, just been following for buying purposes... But per the manual, Zone 2 is only 4K Enhanced (no 4K/120Hz):

Page 56 of the 7100 manual:

"While a disc is played on a Blu-ray Disc player in the main room (where this unit is located), you can play the video and audio of the same Blu-ray Disc player or another AV component on the TV equipped with an HDMI IN jack in a separate room (ZONE 2). Note that only the devices connected to the HDMI IN1 to IN3 jacks can be played on the TV in the separate room. • Audio from an externally connected AV component can be output only when the audio is 2 ch PCM audio signal. Also, the audio output of the AV component may need to be changed to the PCM output. Setup • When video and audio via HDMI input are output to ZONE 2, set "1. Input/ Output Assign" - "TV Out / OSD" - "Zone 2 HDMI" ( →p111) to "Use" on the Setup menu. Note that when "Zone 2 HDMI" is set to "Use", the resolution of the video that can be output by the HDMI OUT SUB/ZONE 2 jack will be limited to "4K Enhanced"

Without Bass Control is XT32 the better option?

Did you choose the crossover settings, they seem rather odd? The fronts at 100Hz, but the center at 40Hz and the surrounds at 60Hz??

Fellow 5100 owners - do any of you know how to set volume for zone B separate from zone A? I have a pair of outdoor speakers which worked fine as zone 2 on my old Denon amp (and could control their volume through the OSD or the Denon app), but with the Onkyo they are way too quiet and slaved directly to zone A's volume. For the 6100 and up there seems to be a Zone 2 Shift button on the remote which allows control of volume, input etc for zone B but the 5100 remote doesn't have it. I've got the 5100's Zone B Output Level set to "Variable". Thanks!

(Any other 5100 questions I'm happy to try to answer)
Looking at the 7100, any users have feedback on performance?
