The codes don't "do" anything to the projector, they are not a macro, they are simply the infra red remote commands to "switch on" and "switch off". It's not been (as far as I am aware) officially documented by Panasonic, but they've been there from the start of the PT-AE series. Mind you, Pana, in line with most other manufacturers, don't tend to publish IR codes, only serial (RS232) ones for the CI community.

Mark, Thanks for clarifying that. Checking on the Logitech web site, it looks like if I send tech support the code sequence, they will convert it and add it to the database (Which means it may already be there
)

I know I'm posting to a stale thread.

Just curious if anyone here has succeeded in getting these Discrete On/Off codes entered into the Logitech database?

I've contacted Logitech's support, and while they can get the Discrete On command entered properly, they claim the Discrete Off command is "incomplete" and incompatible with their software.

Any advice on what format would be the easiest for them to work with?

I'm trying to use an Amazon Echo Dot to voice control my home theater. I bought a Logitech Harmony Hub, and discovered it's not too useful unless it has the commands "built in" from their database.

Some clever programmers figured out a discrete ON command for Panny pjs but the only way to do OFF is as a macro sequence of two different flash pulses with a separation of a half second or so and I don't think Logitech has a means to learn a single button command with a delay in the middle.

I am using the Harmony, including with Amazon echo, successfully with this projector. When I first set up the Harmony and powered down it would only send the off command once, then I had to complete the shut down manually with the pj remote. However after using it for sometime – it started shutting down correctly. Learning remote? I can't tell you why it just did...

I can't remember where I purchased my AE3000u bulbs from when I had it. Probably won't be too long before I will need to research where to buy one for my current 8000u so I'm interested to know as well. I do remember it took me awhile to make sure the seller was indeed selling a genuine OEM bulb, not an aftermarket bulb.

Can someone tell me the best place to buy a replacement lamp?
It has become very difficult to find authentic Panasonic lamps for the PT-AE3000 projector. The old retail standbys like B&H and Provantage no longer stock OEM although they do sell clones. However the Panasonic lamp can still be found at a few sites like Focused Technology.

Thank you. For that price, I think I'll just look at a cheap replacement. I assume a $800 projector today is better than an AE3000?

I understand. That is the conundrum that faces many projector owners with older models and relatively expensive lamps.

Sadly projectors drop like a rock in value. I paid $2500 for the Panasonic AE3000u when it first came out. Sold it several years later for $300 + 6 tickets to Universal Studios. LOL

I know this is an ancient thread, but it's an ancient projector so it seemed appropriate. I have a. 3000 obviously and wonder if anyone has an issue with it getting dimmer once or twice an hour and then brightening back up after a second or 3. It's not sudden, it's like someone sat on the remote and is dimming it. Is a little annoying since it's not the brightest to start with, and some days I feel like it's stuck in the dimmer mode, but I'm not ready to buy a new projector.

Alternatly, anyone have an ae3000 they want to sell for parts?

Image brightness fluctuations are sometimes caused by a poor bulb connectiion [oxidation of the electrical contacts for instance.]. Sometimes the easy cure is to disconnect and then reconnect the lamp (bulb). Simply the removal and reinstallation scrapes the cobtacts clean and you are good to go. . . .for a while.

Change lamp and fan modes for a few hours. Then switch back. I have fixed the flicker and get 3000 hours out of my lamps with this method.
You can extend the lamp warning message in the hidden "Ext Options" menu. When in there, run the Self Test Diagnostic.

I just vacuumed my PT-AE4000's filter (same as 3000?). It seemed pretty dirty so I decided to open the plastic shell to access the foam to run it under my sink's tap. It disintegrated in my fingers immediately as if it were made of a water soluble material! DOH.

Anyone have any ideas about where to find one or a good substitue? It is so old Panasonic doesn't seem to even list it at their site.
