I think that it would be a good idea to have one place where I (and eventually others) can answer questions about PHT and concept chassis.

Instead of answering individually questions by e-mail - I will answer all questions here.

No other brands here, please.

Looks good!

How exactly does the top cover stay connected to the rest of the chassis?

There are four bolts on the top and four rubber openings in the base. Easy to put cover in and easy to remove it.

Hello,

some questions:

1) Is the FLM-7-Black chassis available? On the website it says they are "BACK ORDERED".

2) When the short pipes will be available?

3) Since I need a FLM-7-Black with short pipes and want to wait for them to be available, would it be possible to book one and wait the short pipes for finalizing the order?

Thx,

Dakkar

As I mentioned here before current FLM-7/8 chassis have long pipes compatible with CPU located on the left side of MoBo.

For ASRock mobos you need short pipes. We made prototype, I tested it, made correction and we started production. New, short pipes will be compatible with all FLM-7/8 and current FC8 Evo chassis.

You can see short pipes prototype here

Before short pipes are available, you should choose Mobo with CPU on the left side, like Zotac H87ITX-A-E or JetWay JNF9J-Q87.

I hope that I could help you guys.

I tested this chassis for many hours today.

Mobo: ASRock H81M-ITX

CPU: Intel G3220 3.0GHz

Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM

150W Pico PSU

I installed WIN7/32 bit and Prime 95/32 bit and started stress test.

Results:

Ambient temperature – 20 ºC (68 ºF)

CPU temp. – 76 ºC

Motherboard temp. – 51 ºC

CPU Fan – 2340 rpm

I just assembled a FLM-7 Case and I am pretty happy with it.

I just have one problem.

I ordered a 192w PicoPSU kit from Mini-Box.com and unfortunately I realized too lat that it would not work with my case since it's ac/dc adapter is not using a coax 5.5 2.5 connector but a 4 pin mini di connector (see the picture)

Unfortunately the connector doesn't fit in the case. So how can I solve it?

I see several options:

1) I would have to enlarge the hole from 8 to 10 mm and drill the additional side holes for the screws. The problem is that I see it very difficult to be done since I am not a expert. I probably don't have the appropriate tools and I don't want to ruin the case...

2) I change the connector of the ac/dc adapter. The problem I see here is that the cable has 4 wires and it would be difficult to asseble it in the small 5.5 2.5 connector.

3) Similar to 2), but instead of changing the connector, I get a already prepared cable with the 5.5 2.5 connector and connect just the wires of the original cable with the new one.

4) I completely change the dc cable of the ac/dc adapter with a new cable with the 5.5 2.5 connector already attached. To do that I will have to solder the new cable on the ac/dc adapter, but it will require to open up and modify the ac/dc adapter brick.

5) Buy (if it exists) and 4 pin mini DIN female to 5.5 2.5 female connector.

For options 2/3/4/5, is the smaller 5.5 2.5 connector adeguate to work with such ac/dc adapter or will I melt it???

Of course I would prefer option 5 being the easiest, but I couldn't find an approriate connector converter.

Do you see any other options? What would you suggest?

Thank you very much,

Dakkar

Do you use any PCI card?

If not - you can drill holes in cover bracket. Bracket is cheap and drilling is easy.

Best regards

My new build has been ordered. I'm using a PHT FLM-8 chassis with short pipes. I ordered the slim blu-ray drive and a 150 watt PSU and adapter.

CPU: i7-4770s

MOBO: Asrock Z87E-ITX

RAM: Gskill Ares 2x4GB 1600 with a cas latency of 8

SSD's: 2x256GB Samsung 840 Pro which will be setup in RAID 0

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro (I really wanted to try it)

Unfortunately for me I'll probably be sent back into the field before all the parts get here and won't be back for 2-3 weeks so the build will have to wait. I have a Netgear Nighthawk AC router so I'll be able to fully test the transfer speeds of the Asrock AC wifi to my server. And my current open drive on my server is a 7200 rpm not a crappy slow 5400 rpm drive
so no bottleneck there. I'm not using this as a HTPC but as a Main/Music/Download PC.

Also a big thank you to Zygmunt for having the short heat pipes fabricated and ordered for us.
