I have had my new Pioneer SC-1527-K for a couple of weeks now. It was C$999.99 at Future Shop and though I have been waiting months for the 1227 to go on sale, I couldn't resist it's bigger brother at this price. I switched it onto the system in place of the old Sony 720 receiver that has been in there for the past 5-6 years running 5.1 speakers. I needed more banana plug wire terminals and network switch box to split the Ethernet but everything worked right, the first time I turned it on, the automatic speaker calibration worked, the setup using a networked PC worked, the Internet radio worked and it found the NAS drive with Twonky Server full of music right away. Plus, it sounds great so I am happy with my purchase.

I have a couple of questions for the experienced users.

- can I get it to play playlists of music files on the NAS drive?

- I have it connectedto a Pioneer PDP-5070 plasma by HDMI. Can the 1527 turn the TV on & off?

Hi fellow enthusiasts..

I NEED YOUR HELP!!

I have recently moved and have taken my 1527 with me. The electricity here is rated 220V 50Hz. To be able to use my amp I put a 1500W voltage transformer (220V to 110V) on its outlet and thought it would do the trick.

Unfortunately, the amp will not turn on - soon as I plugged it in the Advanced MACCD light started flashing. Does anyone know why this might be? The power requirements on the back of the amp state 120V 60Hz. Could it be the 10V or the 10Hz difference that is causing this tragedy?

The amp was working just fine before I moved and I packed it in the original box for the move and doubt that the move itself has affected it.

I would appreciate any insight or suggestions, as I am desperate and would love nothing more than to be able to continue using this great amp. Please help !

Thank you very much in advance

advanced MCACC led flashing means a problem with the amp module/power supply/overvoltage/stray DC current, etc. that sent the amp into error lockdown.

there's a reset procedure you can try. it's been documented in almost every one of the older Ice amp model threads.

I have the service manual for the SC-57 (same amp design as the 65) so I'll dig it up -

During Standby mode, simultaneously press and hold the "TUNE" and "MULTI-ZONE ON/OFF" keys for 5 seconds.

if that doesn't work, then it's a trip to a service center. and even if you converted 220 to 110-115-120, it would also have to be 60hz not 50 hz. a US made receiver isn't going to work on 50 Hz something wasn't quite right about the conversion that the receiver couldn't handle.

good luck
hope this works for you.

I just purchased a refurb SC-65 from Pioneer's Outlet website and have a couple questions for you guys:

1) I've noticed that the fan runs all the time, even right when you power the unit on. Is this how it is supposed to behave?

2) The left selector knob on mine has two deep scratches, which I'm not happy about at all. Anyone know if the knobs can be easily replaced? Do they just pop off?

Thanks.

I assume that is why it was an outlet buy, scratch and dent.

Here is a parts list for you

Thanks for the parts list; however, I'm not sure if any of the parts is the dial. According to the phone rep who took my order, cosmetically it was supposed to be "as new".

My questions still remain though: Should the fan run all the time, and can the dial be easily replaced without doing surgery on the unit?

Thanks.

I just got the Pioneer receiver to replace my old Yamaha 7.1. So far so good. I have a few questions. If I wire it for 9.1 configuration, should I use the FW or FH outputs? The manual does not show this arrangement, instead they show 11 channel wiring.

My receiver has a slight humming, is this normal?

I'm disappointed that the remote does not have a dedicated "pure direct" button and "extended stereo" button, anyone know if you can program a Harmony remote to have these dedicated buttons?

Anyone find a compatible IR receiver for their Pioneer Amp? I wonder if one of those ebay ones work.

My amp is located on the lower shelf of my TV stand, the ottoman & coffee table blocks the line of sight for the remote so I want to mount an IR receiver to resolve this issue.

This will work fine..

As long as the Pioneer AVR has a rear panel Remote In jack..

If not just use one of the included emitters..

Can anyone please confirm whether their fan runs all the time? I'll need to return mine to Pioneer potentially and time is running out on the return window.

I've never heard my fans turn on, and I keep it in a small cabinet.

It appears that some unit has louder fans than others. There is a fan that is constantly running.
Yeah, I can't really hear the fan, but it runs all the time. I read somewhere that it was supposed to only come on when the unit reached a certain temperature, but sounds like you're saying it actually does run all the time.

Thanks.

Quick question: Does running MCACC/setting up our speakers through the receiver defeat the settings in our blu-ray players (in my case oppo bd-103)? For instance I have my receiver crossover set at 50hz but my oppo has it set at 80hz. When I play a bd disk does the oppo take over or does my receiver's settings keep control?

Thanks!

Oppo's setting will only apply when you use analog 7.1 audio output. Since this receiver doesn't have analog 7.1 input, you are using HDMI for HD audio. Those settings in Oppo is not used..

Dear ss9001

Thank you so much for your help. The reset you suggested worked. I am now once again out of the darkness and the tunes are flowing.

I will, however, invest in a converter soon to convert the 50Hz into 60Hz as well to prevent any damage in the long run. Do you think this advisable, as it is a bit costly.

Thanks again,

Joobin.

I did not have any bites on the main receiver thread so I am hoping that posting a reply in SC65 thread will help.

I am currently upgrading my home theater system and had an opportunity to purchase a Pioneer SC65 new for $999; cheapest on web was 1499.00. I am questioning whether this was a wise purchase ( future wise, being released mid 2012) verses a 2013 model ( i.e sc72) for same amount of money. My primary concern is outdated technologies(limitations; i.e this unit needing an optional wireless nic to make this unit wireless), although none of us can predict the future. I do know that hdmi 2.0 and 4K is the up and coming thing . I am looking for Opinions/feedback on this purchase ( while i can still return) from those with more knowledge in this area!

Also looking for any suggestions for improvement to setup.I do not plan on implementing 9.2, at most 7.2.

I could not find anything in documentation regarding what HDMI standard that this receiver supports, does anyone else know?

Thanks

Current setup:

Room 15x17

5.1

2-BW CM9

BW CM2 center

2-BW Surrond

Energy EPS-100 sub with 2 x 6 1/2" woofers;100 watt RMS 400 watt peak;30 -150 hz +/- 3 db
