Just got word from my a/v specialist that Pioneer Canada is having an internal clearance on the Pro-101FD (not sure if other models are included). I was just about to order a KRP-500M from the US but the new price, along with more HDMI, better glass panel, and a 3yr Canadian warranty made the slight premium all worth it. On a side note, I also got the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K and a Focal Dome 2.1. ETA is

Porksoda,

My understanding is that the KRP models are not available in Canada. In fact, my plan was to purchase the KRP-500M from US.

600M is available in canada...

there's an online store which has it for a few hundreds more than a pro-111fd

the same place online has a great deal on the 101fd but I would prefer buying from the local store...

do you know if Pioneer told all the dealers to reduce price on the 101fd...???

I think I'll have to go to the store in the next days/weeks

thj17,

you're right the 600M is available. I am looking at the 50in so I mistook that for the entire KRP line.

The way I understand it form my dealer is that Pioneer emailed him, and likely all the other authorized Kuro dealers in Canada, regarding the promotion.

If you can, I suggest you go in asap or just call your dealer and place one on hold. My dealer sold 18 panels yesterday - this is a boutique size store in Richmond, BC - and I would imagine many more panels were sold in larger cities out to the east. Good luck!

Just called a local dealer here in Montreal, he hasn't received any price reductions in the last little bit...his 60" PRO-151 and PRO-141 tv's are still OVER 6 grand....he will not lower them....he said his price is fixed from Pioneer...still feel like the Canadian market, at least Montreal is ripping us off for these tv's.

Waiting for a call back from another vendor...

P.S.

His Pro-101 is NO WHERE near what the OP paid for his, actually, almost double.

The local dealer in Montreal said it's most probably due to the fact that this store is closing, lost a line, verge of bankruptcy or something like that..i call total BS on that, Montreal is notorious for higher pricing on tv's vs the rest of Canada.

The dealer told me that Pioneer Canada or Pioneer distributor bought most of the stock left over in the USA meaning their PRO-151 and PRO-141 and are re-selling them here becaue the USA market can't move them anymore..something about how they were bought when the Canadian dollar was weaker and must keep prices high not to lose money on the sell now.

He said he would not consider lowering his prices till maybe end of the year, by then i told him there will be tv's that come very close to the Elites, maybe not exact, but close, his reply was no tv will look as good as the Elite for another 3 years at least so they are not worried...i still wouldn't pay 6 1/2 G's for a tv period, never the less if only slightly better than new current models in a nicer thinner format.

If i lived in BC or other location which would offer me a 60" at a decent size, I'd jump on it.

Is this dealer located in Ontario, if it is and after reading this post I know exactly who you are talking about.

Dreams,

I'm not sure if this promotion applies only to monitors and not tv. Did you ask that?

Also, perhaps you could call up my dealer and ask for more information. I certainly hope he is not going out of business, although strictly speaking, I would not know and I just take his word for it. Anyways, I'm heading over to my dealer to pay the deposit and if I get anymore updates I'll post them here.

A huge thanks to chailinchou for this. Simply awesome!
...

I'm glad I held my nerve and did not get the 111FD at another shop a few months ago as that would set me back a lot more. That guy there assured me firmly that Pioneer would not offer any price reduction on the remaining stock any time.

EDIT - note:

1. There is only one dealer in Richmond where the OP got his. So to avoid delays in PMs just look up the info on Pioneer's website.

2. The new price has since been entered on Pioneer's website so all the dealers should know about it by now. There may be better deals elsewhere.

3. The 101s now shipped are manufactured Apr 2009.

4. Although you can access the ISF3c menu by web the available features are limited. You still need controlcal to access the full set.

I did expect a promotion at some point towards the winter but not at this magnitude, certainly not in Canada! Once I calmed down I placed my order today. Apparently the offer is limited in quantity and for monitors only. I'll be off tomorrow for a second set...

#1 Does that mean it only applies to the 101FD and KRM-600M?

#2 Anyone know where I can pick either of those up in montreal?

#3 Please PM with any deals you have found for Toronto or Montreal. Montreal Preferred.

Q#1. 101 and 141. That shop doesn't sell the 600M so can't confirm this.

EDIT.

I did not ask for the price of the 141.
