I'm from canada and I have a LN-T4053H with the tearing problem. My firmware is 1012. I called samsung and they can't send the firmware by mail or email in canada for some reasons. A tech came over yesterday and he installed a new firmware. I wasn't home when he was there. I discovered he install the same #%$#[email protected] firmware.

I download the firmware 1020 from this post and i wasn't sure if we have the same firmware in canada and in USA. Is It safe to install?

Just to let you know, I called back samsung french support(in canada) and they're telling me : You have the last firmware install in your TV and we need to change the board in it...

I called back samsung english support and they want me to call the tech again and ask him to reinstall the last firmware 1020...

What should I do..... who's telling the truth............

I've decided on this TV, but I'm looking for the best price now... does anyone know where the best price happens to be? I ordered one from Fry's for $750, but they swear they don't know when they'll get more in stock, and I can't wait.

i ordered my lnt3242h from amazon about two weeks ago for what i think was a great price. it was $750 with free shipping (also no tax!). i believe the price now has gone up to $790 with free shipping. i think the lnt3253h was about $100 more.

Yeah, it's $858 on Amazon with free shipping. Is there anything better than that, or should I just swallow the $100?

depends on how fast you need the tv. look at it this way, go to best buy and circuit city then look at amazons price...lol makes you forget the 100 dollar real quick.

Yeah, what I'm worried about is that they aren't actually ordering anymore, and are just doing this in hopes that people will cancel their orders. I called them today, and they said "we didn't get our shipment in on the 16th, and shipments generally come in every two weeks, so I wouldn't expect it before that... if then." Does that seem too underhanded for a company to really do?

I too was frustrated with Fry's being constantly out of stock on the tv, to make matters worse, BB or CC won't match Frys.com pricing.

Luckily Fry's sales ad from last week had the 3253 listed for $799. I figured what the heck and took the ad into both CC & BB to see if they would pricematch. Of course both called the local store and since it wasn't in stock they wouldn't match.

As a last ditch effort I went to one more BB on my way home, and as luck would have it, they didn't flinch when asked if they would pricematch the ad. They just rang it up no questions asked.

Now I am thoroughly enjoying my 3253...and at a price I couldn't pass up!

EXACT same thing here on my LNT3242H. Wii still has tearing when set to 480p. It happens much less frequently, and when it does, it happens really quick. If I have to, I'll live with it..

Good luck on them fixing it. I tried calling them on it, and they're now trying to blame my Wii as having an "incompatability" with the set. I guess it's possible, but I don't know.....Have you tried calling them up and telling them about it? Unless many people complain, they wont check into it....

Hi All -

Thanks for all the great info on this forum! I will likely be buying either the LNT3242H or LNT3253H this weekend and was wondering if I experience the tearing and/or audio drop problems and need the firmware update - how do I go about doing this? How does this firmware update actually get installed? Do I have to have a tech person do it or is it something that I can install myself once I request it from Samsung? Sorry if this info was posted already - I tried to review all 80 some pages of this forum but may have missed this info.

By the way - even with these issues on these Samsungs - do people still think it is a better purchase than say the Toshiba REGZA 32HL67 that seems to have a 50/50 risk for that "green push" issue. I was also considering that LCD as well.

Thanks in advance for any and all help/replies!

It could very well be a incompatibility problem. I noticed watching dvd movies in 480p. No tearing happens. I can live with it as well. I mean it rarely happens. But a fix should be addressed if it is infact the tv. All tvs have issues. And between this at 480p with the Wii and slight audio drop out for a split second even with the new firmware. I still love the tv. I remember before the fw upgrade. It was a train wreck. I was constantly getting screen tear and complete audio drop out were the sound would actually go out completely.

I'm about to return my LN-T4053H in exchange for another brand name. It seem to be imposible to get the #%#$%?#! firmware for my TV because I'm in canada. I can't get it by email, by mail or from the technician. The $#@%#%@$# told me : The last firmware I can get is 1012.... So I'm stuck with the tearing problem.

I uploaded the 3253H fw 1020 upgrade. Your tv looks to be the same. Only in a 40 inch. If you have nothing to lose. Before taking it back. Maybe try the firmware?

I finally tried the firmware 1020 download from this post and after 1 hour and an half everything seen to works perfectly...

But that doesn't change the fact that canadian support from samsung is really bad... and i still doesn't why they aren't allow to give us the update for our television...

1020 is the latest firmware for the 4053H. So call them back, tell them you spoke to a tier 2 tech (english support) that says they did not install the right firmware.

If you're in the US, just call tech support. Depending on the tv you get the latest firmware is either 1020 (xx53H) or 1023 (xx42H) (Some have said 1026 is the latest firmware for xx42H but I have 1023 and have no issues).

It installs via a USB flash drive to either the USB port on the xx53H or the service port (also USB) on the xx42H.

You can find all of this info, including how to install it, tech 2 direct #'s, etc. in this thread, I don't have time tonight to go back and link it all, so I apologize for that.
