Just got my official Sony 65 inch W 850 C series set today. So far I am loving the picture quality and gaming on the set, I don't own a Leo bodner lag tester but would love to know what the input lag is on the set; seems pretty low...Will post more impressions as time goes on but so far very happy with my purchase and the discount received. Also set does appear to be direct lit and not edge lit for those interested...

Pretty inky blacks as well, it is night and looks great in the dark

Love to see some pics of a fully grey screen, a black screen at night, so we can see how your uniformity and DSE are, I am excited to consider this TV, also how are the reflections from lights/windows is it still a more Matte style screen?

Thanks!

Slightly matte finish, dispersed reflections but mitigates well enough for me. Will take photos and post. Seems extremely uniform in person... The only place I see a problem is in the extreme corners of the TV where there is a slight variance in light output ( ever so slightly dimmer) and I am nitpicking about that by bringing it up. It may be 1/16th of an inch in each corner... For a reference I own a Samsung pn58c8000 plasma, a Samsung pn60e8000 plasma and a Sony 46hx850 and I am very happy with this set so far ( it is my bedroom set).

Not positive its rear lit but the uniformity and thickness make it seem that way, much better uniformity and much thicker than most LEDs especially on top. Not a tech wizard so not positive. I decided on this set because I got a killer deal and don't feel 4k is mature enough yet/ it serves my needs for a quality 1080p set imho.

Cool, I'm glad someone made a forum on these two tv's. I think these could be a really good ps4/pc setup. If anyone has some pics, please post. It looks like the 75 incher doesn't come out till the 22nd. Maybe bestbuy will have the 65 incher already in, as it is available on amazon already.

Agreed! I game on my 58 inch Samsung plasma, but just tried this out yesterday with my PS3/ my ps4 and xboxone are on the plasma... Rayman legends played well and looks absolutely stunning; platformers show me lag. I am going to guess it is between 28-32 ms. My lag on my plasma in Pc mode is ~16ms so I can tell a very very slight difference, but it is still extremely playable. It could also be the motionflow960 that I am not use to, just my 2 cents.

I wonder if it's the motion flowage that is causing the lag. Have you tried it at just regular 60htz with all the soap opera effects turned off?

It's in game mode, so Unnecessary processing is turned off. Again it is a great gaming set, I'm just not confident that the lag is in the low 20s… I guess we'll have to wait until verified numbers come out on Rtings.com, he will test it; this would be a good test to see if a minimal difference in lag is perceived or real. I estimate 32 ms let's see what the real number comes in at

After looking at the x850C thread, the w850c appears to have almost the same exact menu and back lighting system. An owner on that thread has posted a similar review to mine in the sense that the corners are slightly darker; however the black levels are very nice with no clouding because of the direct led back lighting ( The same exact thing I see on the W850c). Still interested to see what the input lag is on the set even though it's not my primary set for gaming, it would be nice to confirm what the numbers are when the set is in "game mode". If anyone has access to a lag tester it would be awesome if you posted results

My quick update on my best guesstimate of input lag for the set is that it is in low 20ms range; this is because previously I placed my PS four and PS3 behind the TV which is an absolutely idiotic position but it was temporary and it proved to create input delay or interference somehow, I have now relocated the PS3 and PS4 to the side of the TV about 3 feet away with a clear signal path and there's almost imperceivable lag. Feels similar to my plasma. Awesome set!!!

Sorry my friend I don't have that kind of the set up to test lag. I will tell you that after playing with the set more it is absolutely stunning, I don't think for the price I got it for which apparently will be the price coming in a couple weeks that you can beat the set for the money. Again I'm very familiar with low lag sets as I have two plasmas that are good for gaming and I would peg this at about 20ms. I don't think you can get a better 1080p set in this price range; because this set is backlit it looks awesome during the day and very uniform and deep blacks at night. When the lower pricing comes out in a couple weeks I'm considering getting a 75 inch as well because I just think the sets are amazing for the money.

I wouldn't call them great, but it gives you an idea....
No, thanks. I'll take whatever I can get. You mentioned that it will get lower pricing in the next couple weeks. What pricing have you seen? From Sony's website it looks like the 65 incher is $1900 and the 75 inch is going to be $3000. Gosh, if the 75 incher ended up being $2500 I would be a very happy camper.

I was able to get the 65" shipped from ABT during the weird pricing they had about 2 weeks ago. It cost me $1399 total shipped to my door no tax with a $100 discount taken off when I chatted with sales.

Since it live in CA thats about what I would pay for a $1,280 TV + Tax with free delivery. I am hoping its a great TV for the price. I am coming from a Panasonic Plasma and will be using the TV for gaming, TV and as a computer screen so my expectations are pretty high.

Just a few more hours until the delivery guy gets here!
