SVS's web site states late 2009 for the release of their large tower speaker line. Lets start the rumors flying. Maybe Ed or Ron will step in and give us some hints.

I'll start......

I hear they are an electrostatic line source with diamond tweeters and 2 18" subs built in.

I heard thru the grapevine that they'll be a 4 Ohm load though

I think it would be redundant for a company that primarily focuses on subs to build them into their speakers. Stranger things have happened, though. I am eager to see what they come up with.

A line source array would make for a Large Tower setup...hmmm.

One thing about the AVS forum I hate - it keeps making me want to change my mind on what speakers to get!

I went from Klipsch to wanting to hear Axioms, and now I'm taking a serious look at SVS. Well, not too serious a look at their current lineup (aside from the 13Ultra), but what they may be coming out with.

I'd like to see them produce something to compete with the RF-7. I'm talking main speakers with large woofers. So I think the LTS line will be something that will compete with the likes of the RF-83/RF-7 or Axiom M80s. I think the most likely possibility will be 8 inch woofers, possibly with a 6 inch midrange. What I'd really like to see is a main with a 10 inch woofer or two, along with midrange speakers (and the new tweeters, of course). Of course, I'm sure they can do an excellent 2-way - after all, Klipsch makes excellent 2-ways (although some consider them too bright) But if they go for the ultimate in performance, my guess would be a 3-way design may work better...

It will have (4) 13" subwoofers in each inclosure, (6) 6.5" tweeter encircled (8 tweeters) mid range speakers made with an otherwise never known before alloy from area 51.

The speakers will levitate and disappear (cloak) when they sense music.

When you get the 9.2 setup you get a free t-shirt.

stubeef, now that's what I'm talking about

Seriously, started this thread as a joke, to keep interest up on the LTS line.

But I will make a serious prediction. I think they will look like the Paradigm Studio series. Multiple driver, 3 way speaker.

SVS has made a reputation on home theater. So their flagship speaker must be dynamic and be able to play loud.

wow lagit is this? the rumor that is. I am looking at the sts-01's but if they will be comming out with something bigger i would hate to rush out and buy somthing now.

Go ahead and look further into the STS. These new LTS speakers may not happen for a while, and count on them being significantly more expensive than what SVS is currently offering.

It wasn't just the website that was hacked. The MTS woofers are silver plastic and the tweeters have two inch paper cones. Nearly four feet high and weighing a whopping twelve pounds, you can feel the quality! Soon to be found at most mall parking lots.

Not saying they haven't been in design. I know they have. However, releasing them this year doesn't make much sense. The S series are pretty good sellers. The Ms, IDK. I'm sure inventory turns are much slower. Introducing an L series speaker now would not be the best timing.

We can assume that the speaker will be a three way design. With a soft dome tweeter and similar mids and woofers.

I'm wondering though will they use the same tweeter and upgrade the crossovers and mids and some big woofers?

Or will they update the tweeter too?

I'm taking a guess here but possibly SEAS excel, Scan Speak, or Morel woofer ands mids.

something like a high end tweeter one or two large mids and a couple big woofers 8's maybe?

I hope they keep the rounded tops but use more veneer.

And I kinda agree with Ron this is getting crazy. I see them being pushed back again.

but really I'm starting to wonder if we will even see this before the middle of next year.

I know way back when Tom V. mentioned the following over hometheater hack.

Hi Bob,

I have a pair of LTS proto types in my listening room now. Because of their price(we are using about $1000 worth of raw drivers in each speaker right now) they won't be for everyone...but I don't think anyone who auditions them will be disappointed.

Tom V.

SVS

but things may have changed sense then.

And some random speculation on my part. I hope we see a PB Ultra 16 something to compete against the big subs from ED, Epik and others.

And it would be shame for SVS not use that new woofer in a big portered design. Especially considering the PB Ultra 13/ 2 got put on the back burner seemly for good.

I am looking forward to the release of the LTS line. And to be honest, I think it would be a good move for them despite what others are thinking because I think it will provide some very stiff competition to companies like B&W, Vienna Acoustic, etc., etc.

I do see them being in a higher price though. I would assume around 1500 for a pair of floorstanders atleast. I also think that they will all wood covered veneers but in a different shape from what they currently have to completely seperate them from the competition.

I would also think that they would be ported, but in the front, similar to KEF to allow for the bunging they would have atleast 2 ports for different tuning and they would of course have the magnetic grills

I do think it would be great for competition no doubt. Its just SVS had a product back lounge for several years now. There a small company and thing seemed to have taken more time than previously thought.

I think we will be see towers in 2500, to 3500 rage just guessing.

I really think the arched tops with top quality veneers would be rather striking.

I've heard some hi end KEF speakers they have nice stuff.

Honestly if the LTS can hang with a pair of speakers costing between 3k and 10k a par. I think SVS will have done its job well.

I kinda wish they had more wood options. As easy as it would be to scratch some high gloss veneer options. Having seen high gloss rose wood and maple its rather striking.
