That's funny, on SVS site they link to AVS, guess no back scratching going on?

Well maybe because I haven't opened my big mouth yet ;^)

PS WRT the above question about dual v. triple subs, I'd have to agree with Ransac. You'll probably be best off starting with a woofer-ectomy inserting the 12.3 woofers (speaking strictly on a price/performance ratio for the upgrade). If that's still not "enough" then start to consider the tri-sub approach. Phase optimization will be key, so co-location of two, much less three subs might be considered if you aren't. Smooth response from more than one point source of deep bass can get really tricky, though we're working on ways to make that easier.

Screxer, that's pretty funny, and perhaps a first for us. I say stick it to the man and enjoy a better sub indeed ;^) The PB10-ISD was/is a very good sub, but get ready for a shock. The Plus/2 is a whole different animal. My advice is to stop gambling immediately however. You know, quit while you are ahead ;^)

PS Yes, leave politics and back door shenanigans out of this respectful and non-controversial support thread. Every forum, every brand of gear has its personality, and crosses to bear. We don't scratch backs, nor even have time to scratch asses any more. We build good stuff, we sell it, we support it. Now and again, we talk about it. That's pretty much our lives.

We'll do our best to pop in periodically, blog style and police up whatever questions with our famously pithy responses when we can. E-mail is always best for quickest and pithiest replies however. With as much work as we have stacked up, just getting to check the weather is often a click too far in a given day.

[email protected] (really hard questions)

Just go to the website for the ones that are neither easy or hard I guess ;^o)

Thanks for the post Ron. I hope this thread has a successful run. Still finding new ways to enjoy my PB Plus/2. Purchased the long awaited Pink Floyd Pulse DVD. Great sound, including a high bit rate DD recording. Check out "Sorrow" on Disc 1, deep, wonderful bass! I friggin love Pink Floyd! SVS is OK too. LOL

Keep up the good posts!

Ron, thanks for the post...glad my situation was a first!!! haha! I don't know many other people that win big gambling and then turn around and buy a speaker...much less a speaker you can only get internet direct! Honestly, I have no complaints about the PB10 whatsoever....it's probably fine for the room I'm in, but I've turned into a bassaholic and since it really isn't my money I'm spending, what better way to spend it then to go overkill with an SVS?! haha! I'm eagerly anticipating getting the pallet (wow, that sounds scary in and of itself..haha!) and can't wait to lug the beast into my room and get it all calibrated....I'm sure I'll be experiencing movies once again, just like I did when I went from a Velodyne to the PB10.

P.S. I rarely gamble....this was really the only time I've ever won at a casino (good enough reason not to gamble huh? haha!) I just go to Reno every year for Hot August Nights and this year I came home well ahead :) I did stick to my budget though so I could come home with all the winnings to put towards the new beast that will be sitting in the corner soon.

Hmmm...odd I would never think that as nice as the SVS guys are there would be politics and thread deletions here. As I posted elswhere recently I took the plunge and transformed the lr into a HT. The SVS guys have been there to answer my questions and listen to me spout how good everything is. Of course unlike many here the whole thing is budget, well sort of. I think the total is around 3300, pretty good for entry level.

SVS SBS 5.1

Denon 2106

Sanyo Z4

Oppo 971 DVD player

So by last Fri everything had arrived but my friend with all the video and audio calibration tools wasn't coming until Sun. What was I to do? Couldn't wait and set everything up and rocked the house, literally. Now I was wishing I didn't have to work just stay home and watch movies all day. Sun rolls around and everything gets calibrated. Wow! Now I see why people calibrate everything as all the nuances and sublte crap could really be heard. Watched the opening of Master and Commander, holy $%#@ I thought I was going to blown to smithereens! Same with the opening of Saving Private Ryan. The 5.1 system may only have the PB10 but damn is it good! These two along with Jurasic Park should be added to the list of recommended bass watching movies!!

I actually just recommended the SVS 5.1 system to a friend. He also has a limited budget. I'm glad to hear its a performer. He was considering the Bose system. Enough said on that.

Cool!

Do you have that SVS coupled with your guitar set-up? Don't think I've seen that before, but why not.

Ok, I've been a videophile for most of my life and am now catching up on the audio side. I've been thinking about preordering that new PB12-NSD that comes out in september. Are there advantages for it being front firing? Here's my setup. All paradigm cc570, studio 60's, 4 of the adp470's for rear and side surrounds. The sub is a paradigm ps1000 10" sub I got back in 2000 which I would imagine isn't enough now, correct? The prepro is the outlaw 990 with the 7125 7 channel amp.

It's a decent size livingroom with vaulted ceilings that opens to the dining room and it doesn't seem to do it for me anymore. Back when I was into car audio people would say "if you want tighter bass stay with a 10" sub as the bass will get mushy with a 12" or 15" sub. Has that changed? Will I get deep bass AND tight bass when needed? I want accurate bass and for it to totally compliment the great paradigms as well in the low and midrange bass sections.

Any advice would be great and thanks in advance!

Those guys were talking out of their ass. That simply isn't true.

I think the new PB12-NSD would be a good upgrade for you.

Congrats on the purchase. Interested to hear how it sounds in your space. Great thing is, with SVS return policy, your not stuck with something if it doesn't fit in your system.

Thanks, yeah I'll report back with my findings on it. I've searched avs for comments on this sub and found a few but the search engine doesn't seem to find them very well. I seem to find comments just by checking the different svs thread instead of searching for the model#.

well it won't find the part number as it is a "new" product. just do a search for "svs pb12" or something similar--it will lead you to the dozens of threads that compared and talked about various SVS subs specifically the--pb12-isd, pb12-isd/v these are the previous generation to the pb12-nsd performance will be comparable with probably a slight edge to the new one you just preordered with its new driver. Let us know how she sounds when you get her. I am sure you are going to shocked at the difference between it and the 10 paradigm you currently have--even as good as it is, the svs will embarass it. good luck.
