Offset the same at different distances? (same diagonal)

918 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Ssseth
Hello everyone,

Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find an answer on it. For the same diagonal (in my case 92") will the offset also be the same no matter what distance the projector is from the screen?

For example, with my HD70 I can place it anywhere from 10.6-12.7' from the screen (using zoom) to get a 92" screen. The offset is listed as 16.2" here: http://www.optoma.ca/distancecalculator.asp

Since the caculator doesn't mention any different offset at different distances, I'm assuming it will be the same 16.2" anywhere in the range of 10.6-12.7' at 92"?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

"Image Offset" is a constant per centage of image height. It is not a constant distance!

A 92" screen has a height of 45". If the offset distance on your 92" screen is 16.2", then your "Image Offset" is (16.2/45=) 36%

If you increase/decrease the size of your image by zoom or projection distance, the "Image Offset" distance will also change but will always be 36% of the resulting image height.

If you move your projector and adjust the zoom to remain at a 92" image, the offset will remain the same.
Excellent, thanks for the help!
