Well I am quite new to this hobby.


After doing enough reading and going over make after make, model after model,price after price, I have pretty well made up my mind to acquire an XGA projector. Reading about screen door effects and such I figure that with the extra resolution that will not be much of an issue having about a 14' throw distance.


I would greatly appreciate some of the more experienced members on this forum to help narrow down the choices.


Cause i'm tellin' ya my eyes are dryin' out from all the reading.

OT: Any Canadians reading this in the GTA who are familiar with

HTPC building and hardware I would love to hear from you.

I have talked to several local Audio/Visual guys and they think I'm absolutely nuts when I start talkin' this stuff.

Try the NEC LT150. Available for around US$2500, it is the low-price favorite of this forum.


It does not have a zoom lens, but it does have a short throw, which should produce a nicely sized > 8 ft wide picture at 14 ft.

Other favorites are the Infocus LP340-V (not the B) and LP350, which have better scalers but not as high quality color or contrast.
