When Tweeter was "Home Entertainment", you could count on paying full retail for everything, or so it seemed.

Now, it seems like things are cheaper at Tweeter, but even so, they have some DV units that seem cheap even for them.

Like the Samsung 30" for $1499 and the Panny 34" for $2499. What gives? Are they dumping because much better gear is about to hit

the street? The LCD/Plasma units don't seem to be discounted nearly

as heavily.

Is this because DVI is coming, LCD/Plasma is about to get cheap, etc, or what?

Most major brands are coming out with new lines later this year, so all retailers are eventually going to be discounting their current stocks to get them out the door before they are obsolete, or seen as such. It's the same in many businesses that carry a lot of inventory, and particularly noticeable in the car world ("We're making great deals to make room for the 2003 models!"). This year, it might be even more apparent because of the way the economy has been down, and many of these businesses might have even more stock than usual because people just haven't been spending the money on "luxury" items like home electronics.

It was just a few years ago that Bryn Mar

Stereo was a good name in electronics before "Tweeter" bought them out. I don't want to know Tweeter because they got rid of all the good Bryn Mar salesman, and put their own salesman in their place.
