I didn't read replies for your listing yet but I will tell you that the Reference Connoisseur speakers, the whole range, are completely outstanding. Especially now that the price on what is available is SO cheap ($400 each for RC70s, WHAT?!).
I used to work as a home theatre installer and the RC-70s were my absolute favourite value and that's when they were selling for $1200 a piece.
Then the Veritas 6.3 came out. Big deal. They look marginally better, which is a matter of taste really, but if you take them apart, they are pretty well identical.
For that amp, if you got some of either the RC 70 or Veritas 6.3, you need to run them bi-amped to get the full punch and melody out of them. I'm using a Pioneer Elite VSX-53 for my RC70s and they sing. Period. Amazing speakers.
I couldn't find any of the RC-R surround speakers and I don't think they made a RC line subwoofer, but I managed to find an RC-LCR, and Veritas surrounds and VSW-10 sub. Total sweet spot home theatre system. And thank god, Klipsch bought them out and now everything's available online for clearance prices, except for the smart guys that know some stores are selling $2400 pairs of speakers for $800, so they bump up the price in private sales.
I love the Energy RC line so much that I actually went through the process of sourcing out people from all over Canada that bought extras of the RC Mini satellite speakers to build a 7.1 setup just for my home theatre gaming PC in my den, with that Marantz SC6003 receiver and actually took the Veritas sub out of my living room for it - the RC70s bi-amped do not need a sub. Who the heck has a $2500 sound system on their gaming PC??
So if you haven't bought your full line up yet, order the RC70s, get the RC-LCR off ebay, lots of them on there, find some Veritas surrounds... you'll be in heaven, if you're allowed to turn it up that loud
These speakers are developing such a reputation for their quality and sonic accuracy for their money, they're actually worth buying spares.. they'll hold their value
