Yes, you'd have to eliminate the Denon 790 and 1910 because of no preouts. You may want to look into a refurb Denon AVR 989. Authorized dealer comes with 1 year mfrs warranty.

the refurb Marantz 6001 doesn't come with a microphone so you'll have to tack on some additional $$ for that. The 7001 does though and it uses Audyssey MulitEQ calibration.

Pioneer has their own version for calibration software called MCACC. It works very well too. So look at the Elite 21 or 23. Contact Roman at this site, he's an AVS member. http://shopbesttv.com/Audio/Pioneer.aspx

Thanks for the info. Good point about the 6001 not including the mic. I hadn't seen that deal on the 989, but that is definitely a strong contender. I'll need to do a bit of research on the Pioneer's to see if they can match the 989.

Also note that the Motorola cable boxes are notorious for HDMI issues and you may wind up passing that direct to the display with SPDIF to the AVR for audio.

+1 for the Yamaha 765 unless you already have a plan for external amp, then the 665 is adequate.
