older denon receiver questions

the center channel on my Onkyo tx sr800 reciever stopped working, so i'm sending it back to be repaired. while my onkyo is gone i'm using a Denon 1803. i have my onkyo dvd changer and my xbox hooked up thro the component inputs just like i did on my onkyo. but the picture is quite a bit worse when running thro the denon than the onkyo. should that be? or have i done something wrong?
