Saw this on eBay today and was curious how the older ones compare to the newer. I don't have a use for it but thought someone here might, the price is certainly right if its' performance is anywhere near that of its' younger brother (although they look nothing alike):

I saw a post on them last week I think. They have different specs than the new ones. Not as much xmax but still over 30mm.

The older one is a Adire Tumult (or close cousin) motor, with XBL^2. The new one has a split coil motor. Both have pros and cons. I don't know if the XXX has Faraday rings. If not, stay away. If so, that's a decent price for a long-throw 18.

I just bought one of the old RE XXX 18" subs. Here's my link: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1168066

For $400, I couldn't be happier...even if it was more, it is still a good deal. It is a truly phenomenal sub that blew away my highest expectations and seriously upgraded my HT and music experience. I recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from commercial applications and into the real world of DIY, of which I am just scratching the surface. I have so many people on this forum to thank for my current setup. I hope to have pics on my thread very soon.
