Omni's for Xbox

Been mulling over the idea of Omni 260's (though I don't like that the CC isn't matched and is more like a 250) to replace my M&K for HT use so a blurb in XBox mag caught my eye. Guess they might fall into the category of Mini-mini omni's..

Holy geez, they copied Mirage's idea. I guess if all you're gonna do is use that thing fro playing videogames, i supposed they're alright.
I briefly listened to and touched it, and surprised by the rigidity of the plastic cabinet. It's way denser and thicker than it appears. I don't like the idea of omni-directional radiation, but this seems to be a good value for it's price.
wait wait... i just read the website... and that thing is a Tie Up with Audio Products Intl.. the moment i read the words "Toronto, Canada" on the press release, i thought that might have been a case.

I guess, this will finally bring a taste of 'audiophile quality' to them xbox owners.

Some of us use our rigs as much for gaming as we do for movies and music. :D

Yep! Me! :) That's about 90% of hat I use my setup for. And guess what? I use Omni's! hehe, although the actual Omni line, not the Omnisats.
Can anybody comment on the digital amplifier technology they refer too or the validity of the MaxxBass? The watts seemed a little low even for PC/Console gaming speakers but if they are getting more bang for the watt it may be sufficient.
I think the D-amp chips used are from ST Microelectronics/Apogee. MaxxBass is a technology to enable a small subwoofer to sound like a big one. MaxxBass processing generates some harmonics from the deep low bass which cannot be produced well by the speakers physically. Probably, the actual bass fundamental signal is filtered out to protect the driver, but the generated harmonics(based on some psychoacoustics) make audience believe that the low bass is playing. The theory may sound like cheating, but the actual demo sound was impressive.

err.. lemme rephrase what i said. I mean, "this will bring a taste of audiophile quality speakers to the AVERAGE XBox owner"

Gamecube + Ps2 > Xbox!!!! :p

:) These are the two systems I own as well. But I think I may break down and buy an Xbox after I get my SVS in another 6 weeks or so.
For home theater enthusiasts, the XBox is the console to get. It's the only one to output HDTV (assuming game supports it) and Dolby Digital. Most games these days are released on all 3 or at least PS2 and XBox and the XBox version usually looks better, sounds better, and doesn't have framerate issues. Note that I have all 3 (needed GC for Zelda and PS2 for GT3).

I hope the next set of consoles will be more like home theater components (remote on/off, built in component/dvi output) than consoles.
Yeah i agree, technical wise xbox wins over both ps2 and gcn. But the games that i do want to play are mostl exclusive for gcn and ps2..

btw!! gaming's what got me into home theater and subsequently learned the truth about speakers!
If you haven't modded your Xbox yet you are missing out. Slap in a 120GB (or larger) hard drive, your games, add Xbox Media Player, then some emulators. Good times.
