I don't know anything about home theater audio or amplifiers. I'm more into car audio amplifiers. I thought I would pass on an idea that some people on a budget may find useful.

I apologize if this has already been discussed and rejected or approved in the past.

Car audio amplifiers are DC only. That's why you never see them in home theater setups which are based on AC power. However, there is a very good AC/DC power converter available. It's called the computer power supply unit (PSU) which is a heavy square box used to power your PC.

You can buy very good quality 300-400 watt PSUs for between $50-$60 at any place that sells computer stuff. Recommended PSU brands are Antec, Sparkle, and Enermax. You can rig the PSU to work with a quality car audio amplifier to power your home theater setup.

Hope this information helps.
