One for all 6011

Hello,

I was hoping somebody might be able to help me with my remote control. I have been searching this site for a while but can't find a reference to my problem, so forgive me if this has already been discussed. I have an OFA URC-6011 and I know the codes, for my TV and STB, but the remote will not accept them. It know it is an American model remote, but I have been using it in Australia with no problems on my Phillips and LG equipment. I now have a new Teac TV and STB. I have tried searching through the 6011's library with no luck. The instructions say there is a 'capture procedure' which can be used, and to contact OFA customer service for instructions. I have emailed OFA twice, but still no reply. Does anybody know if a new code can be added to the remotes library, and if so how, or should I just piff it and get another remote? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Any success you might have had with 6011 down under is just a coincidence, philips & LG brands are sold in North America. Now you're looking for a brand, Teac, that is not. And so there won't be a code in the 6011. You might want to check out Jp1 forum.
Thanks for your reply Edmund. I know the Teac code is not in the 6011, but according to my instructions, there is a way to insert a new code into the library. 'One for All' call it a 'capture procedure'. As I said, I have the Teac codes, but they have not replied to my queries on how to add them to the remotes library, even though they say it can be done.

Cheers,

Nathan.
You would need to mail it to them, but they are not upgrading the 6011's anymore, they will instead replace it will a urc-8820 or 6820. The 6011 have been discontinued, and they ran out of pre-modified remotes to upgrade.
Furthermore, I'm pretty sure their upgrade policy only extends to US customers as the URC-6011 was never (officially) sold overseas.

If you like this remote and want to stick with it, you should look into JP1, but in order to do so you will need to know how to use a soldering iron because the URC-6011 is not JP1 ready. To make it so, you would need to solder in an EEPROM chip and a 6-pin header. In addition, you'll need a JP1 cable, which you could easily make yourself (assuming that you know how to solder, if you're still reading! :) ) or you could buy ready made from one of the JP1 vendors.

If you're not the soldering type, I can sell you a JP1-ready remote with a JP1 cable. I would probably recommend the URC-8811 remote, which is the big brother to the URC-6011. It's a larger version and it has learning, so if you can't find a ready made code for your Teac gear in the JP1 file section, you can learn the signals and create one yourself.
Thanks for your replies guys. I have made the JP1 cable, seemed simple enough. I am just looking for the modifications I need to make to the remote and what the eprom chip needs to be (Aust. product number) Am currently following one of the links on your post, Rob. Thanks again to both of you for your help.

Cheers,

Nathan.
