so im looking to upgrade my subs, while keeping my old ones. i wanted to know if i sould get two mid quality subs, or one good one. my budget is 1000 bucks and also i need to have smooth, loud bass. i was looking at two Klipsch rw12d or one hsu 15h.

how do other subs like rythmik or SVS stand up to these two?

what about a cerwin vega XLS15s?

Looking at your sig, seems like you have a PSW10 sub. Is that right? If so, even one Klipsch RW-12d will be like going from a moped to a motorcycle. And given your budget, you could get three RW-12ds if you get them on sale at Newegg

I did not even know they existed. that looks like a helluva buy!

To stay closer to budget, get one of the vented versions: http://www.chasehometheater.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=135

Then add a Behringer amp.

I would start with one good sub and add another later on. I dont think you can fully grasp how large of an upgrade it will be purchasing one of the mentioned subs. PSA subs have my attention right now, they seem to have very good extension and get great reviews.

The RW-12d is not just a more powerful sub. It's an all around better sub in SQ and low frequency extension, too. A couple of RW-12ds and you probably won't want to use the PSW10.

How about DIY? For around $1000 you could build a really nice pair of subs.

(2) Dayton Audio RSS460HO-4 -$250/ea
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=295-472

(2) DIY Soundgroup flatpacks -$120/ea

(or cut/build your own boxes for less)

(1) Behringer EP4000 amp -$290 (via pricematch)

$1030 total, although odds and ends will add more.

True, but I'm sure they will be back in soon. They went in and out of stock 3 times when I was deciding which way to go. Just food for thought for him really. There are many possible DIY amp/driver/enclosure combinations one could come up with for around $1k.

I've never seen them in stock. Except for the small enclosures. I don't think anyone who's interested in DIY would ever want a small enclosure.
