This past Sunday my father made his first visit to my home while I have had my HDTV during football season. I wondered what he would think of this TV. I said nothing about it before he arrived, and never had told him about it since I got it, other than the fact I mentioned to him I purchased a new TV. Being that he has always been a stickler for PQ, I wanted to see how he would react when he sat in front of the TV. He is the kind of guy that would call the cable company if the picture was a little fuzzy on a channel.
Unfortunately the only game on was on FOX. This of course is the game he came to see (Eagles vs Panthers), but of course it had the "moving grass" and all that other crap. CBS was not running a 1pm game in my market, so I had to stick with FOX.
As soon as he sat on my couch and looked at my TV, he said, Oh My! Is that high definition?! I have always heard about it, but never imagined it would be this awesome! He went on and on and on. He could not get over how great the PQ was. He freaked even more when I turned on a nature show on Disc HD Theater. He was also really impressed by the 4PM CBS game(luckily in HD). We also watched a bit of the ALCS that night.
All told he is sold on HDTV, and plans on purchasing one soon. Now I have to tell him how many steps go into getting HDTV, and that it's not just buy the TV and plug it in like it used to be. I am afraid he may retract purchasing a new TV when I break the news.
