This is probably a basic question, but I searched all of the forums and could not find an answer.

Is it possible to use a single set of speakers and connect them to both a TV and a receiver?

I have limited space for speakers at the front of the room and will never use both at the same time. I would like to be able to have it so I can watch TV without turning on the receiver, but when I am listening to the stereo or using the receiver for TV sound for DVDs and such, I can turn off the TV sound and use the same speakers (plus the rest of the surround system).

IT seems like there should be some sort of switch, but is there anything wrong with just wiring them both in as long as only one is active at a time?

Thanks,

Steve

Run the audio out of any of these items into an input on the receiver:>>> A cable box/ a sat box/a vcr.--I.E.Your antenna from the roof goes into the vcr first via the 75 om round screw in connection. Use another hunk --vcr out to the tv. Then take the rca audio cables from this box/or vcr; and plug them into your receiver.--This works for the cable box;the sat box as well.

Then you just switch input sources to change from tv sound--or dvd movie. You can now use the tv speakers for sound--or turn on the receiver for your tv sound.--select "that" input. The dvd sound will be on another input you select. Geo

I failed to mention that my TV does not have internal speakers. Only external speakers. Right now, I have the TV external speakers sitting right next to my my stereo speakers and never use them at the same time.

I'd like to get by without having to turn on the receiver to watch TV if I am just watching the news or something.

Thanks,
