Onkyo 603X unimpressive, looking at Yamaha 2500

My old Pioneer VSX-D850S crapped out, and I have since replaced it with an Onkyo TX-SR603X, currently $449 at CC. The Onkyo is not bad, but it has nothing special to stand out, I don't use the XM radio feature etc. I figure for around $500, the Yamaha RXV-2500, with its nice GUI and YPAO, would at least have some nice features that I could use. I will use this as my primary unit for movies, games, and 2 Channel music listening. Since my center and mains are horn loaded (Klipsch SC-1 Center, BIC Acoustech HT-75 Mains), would the Yamaha be to bright? I am also now considering the Pioneer VSX-1015TX, or even the Panasonic SA-XR55K, and getting some new main speakers! I would love to purchase using Amazon, as I have at least one $100 gift card for them, which also helps me shop for brands not found in most stores (Marantz, NAD, etc.) Suggestions please!

I have V1500, one step down from 2500. It allows you to customize the EQ sound settings if you find the YPAO has set too bright.
