Thanks in advance for any help.

The inability to send a digital signal to Zone 2 is starting to become a realy big problem, as Radio is now my only analgo signal. Being able to play from two different sources is not really a concern for me.

What I need to be able to do is listen to music coming from an HDMI cable through my Zone 2 speakers. Assuming that I turn zone 2 off, is there a way to tell the receiver to send stereo music to those two speakers. (It is ok if I have to send the music to all seven speakers, as long as those two speakers are powered)

Thanks

One way to accomplish this is by engaging the "bi-amp" feature. This is will send the exact same signal to your surround back speaker outputs as your front speakers. You would follow the bi-amping instructions as far as receiver settings, but hook the speakers in your "zone 2" to the surround back speaker outputs, just like a normal zone 2 set-up. This should effectively give you a zone 2 minus the ability to send a different source there, it will be the same thing that is playing in your main room.

Check pages 21 and 51 in your manual for receiver settings.

OK that sounds like it might be just the trick I am looking for. Althought the waring about using at least 8 ohm speakers is concerning as I am think the speakers in my 5.1 surround set up are only 6 ohm.

Am I really risking serious damage to the receiver?

No, that should handle 6 ohm speakers just fine.
