I'm trying to build a home theater dedicated to movies and TV (no music really). My media room is about 11' wide x 15' deep x 12' high (though it does have a 4' x 4' notch in the back where the staircase is located on the bottom floor, so it's not a perfectly rectangular room).
Here's the components I have so far:
1. Sony KDL-60NX720
2. Definitive CS-8060HD
3. Panasonic DMP-BDT310 Blu Ray
4. XBox 360
5. AT&T UVerse
6. Klipsch SB1 bookcase speakers (may get replaced for an upgrade)
I also am looking for a good subwoofer, probably an HSU VTF-1.
For the receiver, I'm looking for something that has at least 4 HDMI inputs that can handle 3D, a pre-out for a subwoofer as well as a center channel (I'm hoping the combined bass will sound great), and at least 5.1 surround capabilities. I don't care about Airplay or network capabilities, as I don't plan to play music through the receiver (that being said, I don't mind these being capabilities if they come along with a good receiver). What I do care a lot about is something that can put out a lot of good sound for TV and especially movies, and something that doesn't get overly hot (it will be on the bottom shelf of a Standout Design N702 XL with the whisper fans).
Like a lot of others setting up their first home theater, I'm pretty overwhelmed by all the options out there. But, after reading a lot on here and other sites, I've come to like these three systems (I'm not wed to these - they're just the ones I've liked though my search so far):
1. Onkyo TX-NR609 ($400 on Amazon)
2. Yamaha RX-V667 ($400 on Amazon)
3. Pioneer Elite VSX-33 ($570 on Amazon)
For the budget, I'd like to stay somewhere around $500, but will go up to around $600 if it's worth it for a better system. I'd appreciate any advice on a receiver.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions for some good front and rear speakers, I'd appreciate that as well. I'd prefer something in the wall or in the ceiling, and around $1200 for all 4 speakers.
Thanks in advance.
