At least the 701 is one of the best allround receivers in it's price class. It has been awarded in many European magazines and I cant argue their decision.

Weve had this receiver in store for about a week now.

It is an all around fantastic receiver with great sound quality and great features. one of the least expensive thx receivers ive seen. I would have to say its by far one of the best receivers for the money. Anyone who makes the Purchase will love it I'm sure

I'll be picking one of these up very soon. From everything I've read, it seems to be the best bang for the buck.

Question...has anyone tried using the component up-conversion? I'm just curious if the OSD is visible via the component outputs. I've heard that not all receivers that do up-conversion will output that via component.

Yeah...I love the blue light too. Nice to have that at a cheaper price than a comparable HK :)

well i;ll give you my thoughts 2 years ago i had seperates tha consisted of act3 mc5 and m&k s-150p's and servo 15 i had to sell due to pay some bills i spent alot of money over the years to get it and btw before i had seperatets i had a pioneer elite receiver vsx-27 it sounded good but i had to try seperates.so i did and spent way too much money on this habbit this is almost as expensive as drugs any way back to my thought on the onkyo. i'm still trying to put this system together so bare with me. well this time i'm going to build a system thats not as expensive so i got this onkyo 702 silver looked at a bunch of receivers i don't useally go to circuit city except to buy dvd's and i saw this new receiver there in black just knew it would work for what i wanted so i got it. this machine sounds great and plenty os channel seperation this thing to be a receiver just rocks i watehed van helsing first and man i said who needs seperates. i feel the manufactures have come so far these days that if anyone whants to upgrade this thing just buy a new amp and add to it but it did not strain on my system and i like it loud too. the only thing i feel is missing is a i-link connection but music sonds fine to me coming over a coax digital cable . i did not buy this machine for music i bought it for kick a-- home theater and i really feel i'm not giving anything up with this receiver over seperates but i am tring to break a habbit hope this helps someone out there in cyber space
