should i save my money and get the 818 and 7125 or are there any sonic benefits getting the 3009? i don't need sub eq and can't find any other receivers less than $1000 with audyssey xt32. i have never done this kind of setup before so i am asking you guys. i don't understand all the specs so where would my extra $400 be going if i got the 3009? since i don't need the onboard amps and the 818 seems to run cooler that seems to be wehre my money would be better spent. thanks in advance.

If you are 100% positive you don't need SubaeQ then definitely grab the 818.

Are you sure you need the 7125? The amp sections in both the 818 and the 3009 are excellent. Unless you have a huge room or speakers that are not very efficent maybe the 7125 would not be needed. If you determine the 7125 is not needed then you could go for the 3009 and save a few bucks over the 818/7125 combo

m70's and m60's and a hole waiting to burn in my pocket. i kind of want to go the amp route, well because i am curious and the amp will out live upgradeitis on a receiver/prepro next round. i am kind of thinking if i get the 3009 i won't need the amp. but if i get the amp, then i could probably settle for slightly less receiver. either one seems to be future proofed a little bit and will probably hold ground for at least 3 years. and the amp would be too much for my current conditions but will nicely fit future living upgrades.
