Is there any benefit in getting 886 instead of 876 for use as pre-pro with an external amp? I know about balanced outputs and additional zone in 886 (both of which do not matter to me). Is there anything else, such as better DACs or DSP?

Other than the 876 having internal final amps they are functionally identical. The 886 will run much cooler not having the amp section. Just because you aren't using the internal amp does not mean it won't get warm.
