Any ideas on a better sounding shelf system for $400 or less? I’m planning on giving this to my youngest son for his birthday in January. We both listened to the CSV720 and the older MC35TECH at Circuit City and nothing else even came close as far as sound and size is concerned.
The only thing that kept me from choosing the MC35 was bad CDROM player reviews. I’m hoping that the CSV720 is more reliable.
Is there anything other shelf system else out there that sounds better for the price? We don’t have the room for a traditional HTIB with a sub right now and I couldn’t find anything else that sounded better. I think it’s due to the fact that the Onkyo’s have 5 1/8 and 5 ¼ woofers and most comparable HTIB satellites are much smaller.
BTW, We also looked at the Tivoli and BOSE and liked the sound and features of the CSV720 better.

Thanks for the response. I was beginning to wonder if this was the right forum or not. How long has she had the unit? Did you listen to anything else before you decided on the MC35?
Well I got the CSV720 for my son for Christmas and now the WAF wants another for the house. Yes, it’s that good. Tomorrow were going to add XM to my subscription on their family plan. I might consider an Onkyo HTIB if they offer one with satellite radio in the package.
