I am new to the HT-S790 but enjoying it very much. I am curious to what listening modes you use for the following


Listening to CD's

Watching DVD movies non-HD

Watching DVD movies in HD

Watching normal TV shows

Watching sports such as football

Can't remember the exact indicators, as I'm not at home right now.


CDs - Dolby IIx Music, Orchestra or Unplugged, depending on what it is.

DVDs - DTS Neo 6 if DTS available, otherwise Dolby Digital 5.1 (I don't have HD)

Normal TV - IIx Movie

Sports - Direct

1. Analog Multichannel with SACD hi-rez; digital dts hi-rez multichannel; Stereo, PLIIx-Music, Neo:6 music, All Channel Stereo, Unplugged, Studio Mix.

2. dts when available, when not available DD, PLIIx is a last choice.

4. All Channel Stereo, TV Logic

5. Stereo, All Channel Stereo--try both of the PLIIx settings for stadium sound, too. They may be surprisingly effective.

Good post, I was wondering the same thing. Just got my 790 last week. So far so good
