Good Morning.


Recently did a first time setup with my Onkyo TX-NR709. Currently only have two fronts and a center. Been messing with the listening modes while view movies/tv (dont listen to music too often ... its maybe 80/20). I was wondering if anyone knew a place or a link with a GOOD explanation of the difference in all the modes. Like Normal Dolby Digital vs DD Mono vs DD Stereo vs DD Theater Dimensional, etc.


Or if anyone has advice to offer on which should provide the best sound especially for movies with this basic 3 speaker setup that would be great. DD T-D seems to sound the "loudest" but not sure if that means the best.

After reading alot of info today, alot of people seem to like THX settings the best. However most of this is with a complete 7.1 system. Would THX be the best with only the front three or maybe front three and sub? Or would something else seem to produce better/truer sound?


EDIT: nm seems you have to have 5.1 to use THX modes

I have done some listening tests with my Integra 40.2 with Pandora with all the surround and music modes. I still like the sound from "all channel stereo" better than the others.
