I've seen factory refurb Onkyo receivers going really cheap lately. Are these relatively safe to buy? Anyone have any problems/opinions?

i've been looking at those as well and they come with a 1 year warranty from onkyo so it seems pretty safe to me.
If they are a good buy I would get one...

They go for about $320 shipped on Ebay (factory refurb'd)...seems like a really good price.
I dont have a problem buying refurb units if they are a great deal; never had a problem with any of purchases.

One of the sites that I frequently check other than eBay is this one: http://www.ubid.com/category/listing.aspx?catid=3871 since they occassionally slip in a unit at such a sh...in awesome price and you get the option to purchase an extended warranty up to 2 years.
Hrm, I'm not familiar with ubid.com...do you need an account to bid/buy? At $279 w/$28 shipping that's pretty tough to beat. Comes with the 1 year Onkyo warranty as well...
You think that is good? You can get a 604 for 250 from ecost.

Ignore the "1 left for sale" junk. It was at 1 left for me, I refreshed the page and it jumped up to 8. I think they are just trying to get people to make a rushed decision.

I am really torn on getting this 604 "Recertified" or a 605. I wont need a new receiver for another 5+ months. Kinda wish I didnt miss out on the $399 sale on the 605s :p.

Yes, you need to sign up for an account. The beauty of ubid for me is, every once in a while they will slip in an item (receiver for me) at such a ridiculously low price that you'd think it's a mistake.....until you click on it and discover that it's for REAL
You just have to check on them once in a while to see if they are doing any "slippin". You have the option of getting an extended warranty for up to 2 years (i did on my receiver), good return policy and the item arrived in 2 days (YMMV since I live in the midwest and they shipped mine 1-2 states away).
