I was also looking at the 506 and the 606 but I choosed the 606 because of the HDMI repeater.
if you choose the 506 (Pass Through), the receiver will need 1 HDMI connection for the video and 1 other (like fiber or something else) for sound
If you choose the 606, the receiver will be able to interpret the sound directly in the HDMI cable so you only need 1 hdmi cable per device(PS3, XBox, Blu-Ray...)
