I was leaning toward the SR504 for my needs, financially and performance wise after reading many GOOD things about it for the $ - - - but a fella that lives near me has a TX-SR573 that he bought 4 months ago and will sell for less than I would pay for a refurb 504..............the ODD thing to me is that at Onkyo even when you click on "Previous Models" the 573 does NOT come up??? I am guessing but the 574 must have replaced the 573. I cannot find much as far as reviews fo concerning this 573 Model and wonder IF someone KNOWS anything about it so I can make a more informed decision??? One would think that the 573 would be better than the 504 - but maybe not??/

I own the 573 receiver. The main differences are that the 504 has 7.1 channel analog inputs while the 573 only has 5.1 analog inputs. The 504 also has an A/V sync delay which you can adjust the timing of the audio to match up with a flat panel TV.


The 573 has a much better remote which can learn functions from other remotes plus 3 macro buttons.


I guess its a matter of what is more important: 7.1 inputs plus A/V Sync or a better remote.
