I have an opportunity to purchase an onkyo tx-sr600e for $20, the only thing is that I believe it is the european version so it shows that it operates on 220volts and the power cord is different. Is it possible to buy an adaptor so it will work in American wall outlets?

Thanks!

You can buy an American version for the same price. This is a 7 year old model that lacks all the bells and whistles of the new stuff. The 600 was my old AVR that was replaced by an 805. It had plenty of power, and was easy to operate. I just set it up at my sister's house and it still kicks butt.

The non HDMI AVRs of yesteryear are cheap used. You have a lot of options.

To answer your question, NO I wouldn't buy a European version.

And I wouldn't either. The extra crap just to supply the right voltage will cost more than a decent AVR with newer features.
