I was under the impression that I would be able to use my Onkyo TX-SR706 receiver in the following way:


Connect a piece of equipment (in this case, Nintendo Wii) to either a composite or component input (in this case, component) and send the video to my display via the HDMI output.


I think I have everything hooked up correctly, but it's definitely not sending the video. Audio is working fine.


Any thoughts?

Did you perform "INPUT ASSIGN" ?

What ports did you use?

Yes, I did.


My HTPC is plugged into "IN (1 DVD)" via HDMI.

DVD is assigned HDMI 1.


My Wii is plugged into "IN 2 (CBL/SAT)" via component.

CBL/SAT is assigned Component Video IN2.


HDMI output resolution is set to 1080p, so the receiver should be upconverting and outputing all video through the HDMI output to my display, correct?

No, I did not. And I'm not sure what you mean either. Can you elaborate a bit?

Nevermind, I think I understand. Not sure what you meant by 1.1???


Every other setting except for what I noted above is set to ----

CBL/SAT is default to HDMI3 (see page 42 in OM)

Right, makes sense now. I changed the default HDMI3 for CBL/SAT to ----


I searched the official TX-SR706 thread for "Wii" as it seems there are quite a few people with issues, but all of those people are at least getting the video to pass to the display first! I can't seem to get that much.

Also changed the Wii output to 480p and Aspect to 16:9.

Sorry woody777, running out of suggestion, maybe a few more

- try using the other Component Input #1 (DVD) and reassign

- check PURE AUDIO is not selected

- try resetting the A/V Receiver
