Onkyo TX-SR804 audio output stopped working

908 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  High Gear
After 36 months of great service, an electrical storm has gotten to my SR804. From all appearances everything looks fine and the video pass thru is fine. The problem is the audio output - it stopped working to all speakers and headphones. I took a peak inside the cabinet and it is well beyond my comprehension. I tried running the reset and some basic diagnostics but can't pinpoint the cause. Has anyone else had something like this happen? I've talked to a handful of repair shops that are telling me the fix will run anywhere from $300-425. IMO I'm better off with something new (in the class of the Denon 1910). Ideas on salvaging this bad boy?

Yup .... sounds like a new AVR is in the cards. Check all your local Best Buys for any Denon 2310's on clearance as they have been selling for anywhere from $250-$450 depending on the store and would come with full 2 year warranty.
