I've read somewhere that the Onkyo TXSR507 doesn't upconvert video when using component cables? Can anyone confirm this. I've got my Wii hooked up to the receiver via component cables and I get sound but no video. The receiver has an hdmi out to the TV. I tried using the composite cables for the Wii into the receiver and get the same treatment.

Yes it Does Not convert between format (see page 23 in OM).

It's not ever going to be able to if that is what you mean.


The work around is a component video cable to the display as well as HDMI.

I agree what JOHNnDENVER stated. The only thing I can think of is a Gefen Convert Component Video and Analog Audio to HDMI . But even with this in place most likely it will have some type of delay in process.

The 607 is the workaround. Other than that, just run component out from the 507 to the TV.

Yea, $200 isn't worth it... might as well get the 607 or just run it direct if I end up with the 507. Thanks for the info

Oh, you haven't purchased the receiver yet? The 607 isn't $200 more unless you're getting a great deal on the 507!

Sorry to confuse... The $200 I was referring to was for the converter linked in JChin's post.
