Onkyo vs Denon, which to buy.

I had all but decided on the Onkyo TX-SR706, when someone thought I should give Denon a shot. I have a budget of 550.00 for the receiver. What Denon or other receiver would you recommend?

Note: For dedicated Media Room that will play Movies, Music and Games, in that order. Room is just shy of 12x16.

A comparable Denon for similar price could be the older 2308. Does the 706 have Dynamic EQ+Volume? I doubt the Denon does.
