Hello Everybody,

I wanted to comment on Doug (Baisey) setup that was done at my house last Wednesday. (Had to "test" it a little before posting :D)

First and before anything else, his expertise is FANTASTIC!

Long story short, I had a PG9+ that needed to be setup.

Ceiling mounted, 96" Goo widescreen, and HTPC with Mike Parker Radeon card (1280 * 720 @ 60Hz).

After changing the tubes to used fresh tubes (and 7 trips to the local Starbucks :) ... Just kidding) we finally hanged the beast.

We had some issues with the MP Radeon card for the calibration at first but then Doug used his calibrated pattern generator and everything went very smoothly.

All I can say is that the pictures are nothing short of amazing!

I have quite a few HDTV samples and those are simply incredible!

DVDs also look very good.

The detail and depth of the picture are really fantastic.

Doug really did a great job on this projector and I can't thank him enough for all the hard work he did.

Something that I liked about his method is that he is not doing ANYTHING half-way or good enough.

Everything he does has to be perfect, and it shows.

He takes the time to explain what he is doing and why which is nice.

I really urge anybody with an NEC to save some money and call Doug for a professional calibration.

No offense to all the NEC experts here but I only have experience with Doug's work. :)

I have to repaint my screen because I have some bands showing up, but I will take pictures and post them here in the next few weeks after the paint cures a little.

Doug thank you again for the excellent work and great personality.

We will go to SaltGrass again next time you come around here. :)

BTW, After checking the MP card, the 3 jumpers were ALL on...

Should I remove them?

I've always been interested in getting mine professionally setup. Especially now that I have a permenant room. But the cost in airfare/travel time to Springfield, MO would probably be too much. Let alone what the setup would cost. To bad, I'm not in a major metro area.

Oh well..........sounds like you have a super setup. Enjoy!

Arno,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you, its still been crazy and I havent been home enough to post.

I would wait until the last coat of 'Goo' cures then remove the jumpers and see what you have to play with.

If I remember right when we called Mike he said it was a gain boost when jumpered. I need to work more with Mikes card to find the sweets.

I did notice Josephs card didnt have the jumpers.

You were a gracious host and I appreciate the effort (Starbucks) you put into everything you did to make for a great Dallas trip (I was never up that long before between you and Joseph) I had a good time over there, you planned well and hit your optical core dead on, I dont see that very often, you usually need to move something.

My treat at SaltGrass next trip out (this place has a steak to die for)

One last trip for Corp and a visit to Josephs for add on's and we have it. Thanks again Arno, your really good company! Doug

Doug,

Thank you for the kind words.

I look forward to have you here again soon.

As for the jumpers, I will remove them at some point but if it removes gain, I don't see how that could bring a benefit...

Arno,

Gain if used right is a benefit to a point, you want to just hit the best resolution and not overdrive the signal (peak).

You have a fairly short cable run so you may not need it. Best seen on a data field or lettering such as the DVD menu's or Avia resolution test field.

The final screen gain (curing) is a factor also for comfort settings for the 'room'. Doug
