It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than beg for permission. I’ve made my fair share of fire wood from projects that didn’t work out so rather than trigger my wife’s OCD having the living room look like a workshop, I figured I’d build something substantial offsite (friend’s house) and sneak these in place, which is probably doable having ah AT screen because there’s little reason to look back there.

After a lot of back and forth with @aron7awol who was a tremendous help, I settled on 4) enclosures turned to 15.3hz with two 5.5” square ports 48” long and 13.2 cubic feet net enclosures. I currently have an SK horn which I really like but when I had to move locations to accommodate my mini refrigerators (JBL 4722s) i ultimately just decided to try something I never had before. Also thanks to @Gorilla Killa as he answered a lot of my questions as well prior to settling on my final recipe.

I’ve decided not to rely on one location and hope for the best. I’m gonna have two Eminence NSW 21s driven by an FP14K clone with one each corner to do the heavy lifting. Enclosure size: 86” tall x 16” deep and 24” wide using 3/4” Baltic Birch with a 1” thick BB front baffle (not much depth to spare). The B&C 21ds115s currently in the SKhorn will be repurposed and will have the same internal volume and tune but one will have have different dimensions which will go on a shelf that I built that goes over the JBLs with the other being nearfield. Very nearfield is a whole nother project. The B&Cs will be driven by two channels of an FP10kq. I’ve got the shells almost ready to go for three enclosures. Now I’ve gotta settle in on bracing. Hey, how are you? I did not even know you built a SKhorn. It has the BC21s? Not Ipals? How do you like it? What were you coming from? Remember the Madison's? The folded horn had good midbass.

Been great man! My SKHorn has the 4 ohm B&Cs, love that thing, percussive for sure. Before that I had some ported AE 18s up front and UXL 18s nearfield. I’ve had so many different combinations over the years and more than once I was good to go but didn’t realize how good until I tried something new and lost what I had prior... the AVS rabbit hole. I remember the Madisons. The dual 18 is at my Crossfit box so I hear it all the time. Crazy that thing can fill a whole warehouse.

Current set up behind the screen . The Eminence will be on the left and right of the mains with the drivers facing each other from about 10.5 feet away. The shelf will hold the one with the 21ds115.

Nice, The JBLs! You can't go wrong with those! Do you cover up the lights from the receiver and amps behind the screen? I have built things my wife never knew about.

I am back to sealed again, just love the ULF it provides in my room. Of course hoping my room still provides the gain it once did. It should with the same dimensions.

Yes, I cover up the lights and I also have a velvet border at the bottom that covers as well. I almost went with a slew of sealed subs but had 8) SI 18s once before so wanted to try something new. I’ve never had pro drivers, tuned this low in boxes this big, just trying to abide by Hoffman’s Law.

I know what you mean. I am now addicted to high excursion drivers, so I want either more RE XXX-18 or the 24.

It looks like you saved your wife some time by building coffins for you and your friends that are helping you with the project. That's very nice of you saving her those arrangements after she discovers these subs and goes on a rampage.

LOL, I think the initial reaction will be a head shake followed by “more subwoofers?! You just built....” After that, I think she will be impressed that I managed to build, bring them in the house and put them in place without her knowing. Pats self on back.

I really believe that once you have been through so many builds the wife acts upset but she realizes it makes you happy and moves on, mine does. They have to put on the show though as it can not be that easy for us.

My fiancé was thrilled when I told her I was canceling my sonosub build and returning the tubes. At least until she realized there was a catch. Submaxes arent THAT much bigger

No shortage of output there. The Submaximus was definitely on my list of considerations but they’re....HUGE so it just wasn’t practical to try and accommodate them.

Thats the plan.
The LLT sonosubs I designed were 25x25x87. The submax is 25.5x36x80. The same locations work with the extra width, and I installed a BOSS to cover the ULF.
It should be fun.

Wait, sonosubs are round and mine were 26 by 72.

Yep, i was using 24” outer tube, outside diameter 25”. Hence 25x25.
I was going taller to gain volume, 78” tube length. Add endcaps and legs, overall height = 87”.
Where I’m putting them, 26” is a depth limit. Ceiling is 7’9-7’10. 36” width is limit.

That's why you should just keep adding rather than changing, silly rabbit!

Will you be getting a dsp FP or do you have external DSP already?
