Opinion on Processor speeds needed

I am building my first HTPC and I have all the parts. The processor I bought is a AMD 5000+ Black Edition. I am trying to decide whether to put that in the HTPC or swap it out with the 3800+ in my desktop upstairs. I do most of my ripping/converting on the upstairs computer storing everything on a file server. The HTPC will only be doing playback. Will the 3800+ be enough processor for that? I have the gigabyte 780g board for the HTPC with the integrated graphics.

I believe that 3800+ (with atleast 2GB RAM) will be more than enough for HTPC needs. I'm currently running 4400+ with 2GB RAM and I can play all 1080p mkv files without a problem.
