I have attached a drawing of my room. As you can see, the couch and entertainment center are setup more to one side of the room than the other. So, should the speakers be placed right above the couch or closer to each of the side walls? I'll be trying both (as soon as my wife goes to visit her folks), but my wife wanted them closer to the side walls and I wanted them above the couch.

I would place the surrounds symmetrically around your sofa; i.e., where the "O"s are in your drawing, or maybe even a little wider apart.


If you end up placing them where you wife wants, then remember to re-calibrate to compensate for the unequal distances.

Sanjay, thanks. Not sure who will win this one, but hopefully, my receiver will be able equalize this out if I put them where my wife wants them.
