I'm considering a WS Mitsubishi RPTV from thier Gold or Gold+ line (HDTV-ready, since I will almost always have a cable box connected to it). I would use it for an even mix of TV, Movies (I buy mostly letterboxed), and Video Games (mostly Xbox). However, I just noticed that the Mits TVs doesn't natively support 720p, only 480p and 1080i. Should I be concerned about this, and look at a unit that does support 720p, like the Panny PT-45LC12, that supports 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i (as well as VGA inputs)?

Xbox is really your only problem. If you want to play 720p HD games then you'll need to look a different manufacturer.


There are almost NO crt based TVs that will display 720p natively as most of them convert it to 1080i or 480/540p--->1080i.


But for movies and HD the mits is a very fine set.
