I'm going to be mounting my G70 soon and I wanted to get an opinion on the condition of my CRT's.

They really don't look all that bad to me at all and I was thinking of using them for a couple thousand more hours before I retube just to get every ounce I can out of them.

Focus is dead on perfect and they are nice and bright.

What do you guys think??

If the focus is good and they are bright I say use the PJ. You are the one who will be enjoying the PJ so if your happy go for it. Use it.

Hi,

I think you should really put in new blue and green tubes and sell the old ones to me so I don't have to drop $1600 to fix the uneven wear on mine :)

God bless...

Hi Cliff,

Economy or performance?

If you mount and operate the PJ to stay within the already worn areas, you should be fine.

If you intend to run a 16:9 screen, then you can move the PJ closer to the screen, using the maximum amount of phosphor area possible. The difference in throw distance is substantial, in my case 10" from factory recommended to where I am now, which is 116" for a 92" wide screen.

You could build a mounting system that is flexible enough to handle both cases, and not have to compromise performance when you finally replace the tubes.

Burn baby burn.

Use em up Cliff, too good to pull out yet. It only takes 4000 hours to get the new ones looking like that in a G70.

Make the most of what you have
