Initially posted this on the processor section but I forgot to get opinions on what I would like to do here for the speakers. My theater room is about 2000 cubic feet and I don't really want to do more than 7.2.4 in the space. Klipsch has kind of been the easy answer for what I would like to get. Audio seems great and the aesthetics help the decision too. Can I get some opinions on the below?

If going with rear surrounds RM150/160s would be a better choice for side surrounds. Otherwise that's a killer setup.

Looks pretty good actually. Is your dealer giving you a healthy discount? That’s a must when buying retail speakers. Never pay full retail.

Yes, I’m working with dream media out in Texas. Got my Epson 6050 from them as well.

Do you mean the RP-600M bookshelves? I was thinking about that as I can get a pair for close to the cost of one 6000 but I like the idea of floorstaning speakers. Are they close enough in audio production?

Oops, just read your post again. Are you saying to replace the 502’s? What do you think about going in wall instead with the PRO-160RPW?

May I ask what they are quoting you for that?

Sorry, it’s just that I’ve seen people say “Oh they are giving me 10% off they are giving me a great deal” which is far from the case lol!

Yep, Direct firing for the side surrounds. If you don't ever plan on dramatically altering the seating arrangement then in-wall will give you a bit more walking room and should work just fine.

Just had to use a little excel app and ended up with about 10% off like you mentioned but the other perk is no sales tax and free shipping. Do you know of a better dealer?

Looking at getting the HSU direct off their site.

Not sure you need the 8000fs for the front as that space does not seem large.

Crutchfield has most of the RP series at 20 percent off at the moment so you dealer should BEAT that.

Do you think having the 6000's with two HSU vtf-3's would balance well enough instead of the 8000's?

Front L/R Klipsch RP-8000F/6000F (1 pair)
Center Klipsch RP-504C
Sur L/R Klipsch PRO-160RPW (1 pair)
Sur Back L/R Klipsch RP-600M (1 pair)
Height F/R L/R Klipsch PRO-160RPC (x4)
Subwoofer L/R HSU VTF-3 MK5 (x2)

I would think so; the smaller woofers in the 6000 will actually give greater dispersion than the larger ones in the 8000s which would be an advantage only with no subwoofers in play IMHO.

I’m not sure this is correct, as the RP8000F has a lower crossover point than the RP6000F. I’d think the dispersion would be almost identical between the two.

By any chance have you seen a polar response for either?

No but smaller woofers have better dispersion than larger ones, no?

In any event, with subs in the mix in a relatively small room with both speakers sharing the same tweeter there are also advantage to a smaller cabinet as it can be placed further from the walls while maintaining the same distance to the listening position if the front of the speakers are placed in the same spot.

Also a good point. There’s also the efficiency bonus for the 8000’s too.

No, dispersion/directivity works with frequency.

As long as you don’t have the woofers playing above their “beaming frequency” they should have the exact same dispersion below that frequency.

If it's small difference in cost to get the 8000's would there be any reason to go with the 6000's? Or would the performance "all-around" be better with the 6000's in my room? Might get a pair of RP-600M's for the backs instead of the towers. Could squeeze out about $50 if I drop down to 14 gauge with these lengths. Once I get in my attic I could do some better straight runs to lower distances.

Option 1
Front L/R Klipsch RP-8000F
Center Klipsch RP-504C
Sur L/R Klipsch PRO-160RPW x2
Sur Back L/R Klipsch RP-6000F
Atmos Klipsch PRO-160RPC x4
Sub HSU VTF-3 MK5 x2

Option 2
Front L/R Klipsch RP-6000F
Center Klipsch RP-504C
Sur L/R Klipsch PRO-160RPW x2
Sur Back L/R Klipsch RP-600M
Atmos Klipsch PRO-160RPC x4
Sub HSU VTF-3 MK5 x2

I personally would go with the 8000’s, as you noted it’s a small price increase.

6000 for surrounds is slight overkill, but it means you don’t have to waste money on stands so you are getting more speaker for your money.

Another reason other than being easier to place so they sound better is tweeter height.

The center of the tweeter height sees to be the ideal for most 36" on the 60000f and about 40" for the 8000f which likely works well for taller couches but not for most "normal" couches.

10-15/16"W x 43-1/8"H x 17-9/16"D

9-3/8"W x 39-5/8"H x 17-1/16"D

The RP 6000 is hardly a "small" speaker but it is the height which is the biggest difference and thus the tweeter position.
